Hello Gillian,
First of all let me tell you that there is no button for usb storage mode.. When you connect it to your PC it shows a notification 'USB Connected' which you have to select after sliding down the notifications bar.. If you are not getting that notification then it means that either you are not properly connected or the computer just doesnt recognise your phone.. Either way just try disconnecting and reconnecting it a couple of times and your problem will be solved

About the homescreens, just go to your homescreen and press the capacitive menu button (the one on the left) and then press edit...
After that you will get a zoomed out preview of all your homescreens together.. Long press on the one you wanna remove and drag it down to the bottom of the screen where remove is written and then do the same with other two..

Hope I was helpful :)

This is so not true. I have had my Ace for over a week now and still can't get my pc to recognise it. I'm totally at a loss of what to do now. Any advice would be great as I have installed the latest version of Kies, disconnected, reconnected, installed, uninstalled you name it.
My pc just won't recognise my Ace

Buddy that is not my fault, i tried it on my laptop a few times and it worked, my PC recognised it in the first go, i'd just say format your PC or get your USB port checked since that used to be a problem for me.
I just wrote what worked with me.

1. Connect the Phone to your laptop
2. From your phone, open the notifications bar and select the USB Connected option and you will get a screen saying Turn on USB Storage... Click on that and press ok in the pop up.. and when you see your android guy turn orange, you can find your phone in the Computer window..
Thanks for the help i'll try this and get back to you.

I have the same problem, My laptop is just over a year old, it does connect because the phone starts charging the moment it is plugged in. Yesterday I had to plug in an old USB stick to download some photos, the first 2 times I plugged it in it said quite clearly that the computer didn't recognise it.
I've got a Toshiba satellite pro 500, anything it doesn't rocognise, it will tell you. But my phone only charges and doesn't bugger all to do with USB.
I know I can directly insert the memory card, but I want to be able to add ringtones which someone else said you need mass storage for via USB..
Had no issues of this kind with the mass storage on my old Sony W995.

I had exactly the same problem but on my pc. It seems that when installing Kies it wouldn't install the drivers that come bundled with it.
Check your Samsung Kies folder in Prog Files.
Does it look like this?

Thanks for that :D and i realised that i had not seen the usb button before, i must have mistaken it for another button. I downloaded Kies and it worked fine.

The only other problem i have now is the battery, im having to charge it once a day and im not really using many applications. ive deleted the facebook one to see if that helps but i see other things that are apparently running in the background but dont know how important they are

My girlfriend and I both have the Ace and kies plus drivers installed fine on my computer and not hers, both running Windows 7. So her computer would not recognize the phone, although it could charge.

It turned out the drivers folder was missing, I copied all the drivers from my computer and transfered them to the same folder on her computer and the phone was recognized. For some reason the drivers just don't install properly sometimes. So just do it manually. Hope that helps

I too cannot connect my Samsung galaxy ACE to my laptop [Windows 7] for data transferring?
I have "KIES" on my computer and it did work,...once. I do have all my contacts in KIES but would like to add more to the phone but I want to use the computer to do it.
I have the USB symbol on the phone but the computer keeps trying to connect?
Strange, I have even uninstalled the KIES and then re downloaded it and installed,......same thing!!!
Please help,.Thanks

When you have the USB symbol on the phone, what's showing when you drag the Notification Bar down from the top of the screen? Is there anything like "Click here to enable mass storage mode"?

No I get a screen saying Turn on USB Storage. The Android is green.
I click on Turn on USB Storage and the Android turns orange but nothing happens?
The laptop or Kies is still trying to connect the phone!!! 10 minutes go by and it is still trying to connect!

if you want to connect with kies then turn off the usb storage!
turn on usb storage only if you want to browse the SD card with the windows file explorer, open the file browser or go to computer to find the usb mounted phone drive.

I was able to transfer some contacts to the phone. GREAT!

okay, now yesterday and today when I plug the phone into my laptop nothing happens. It doesn't recognize my phone?
