Root change default notification

My notification is a sound on my SDCard. When the SDCard is mounted or not available, it does a ringing sound, is there any way to change which of the built in ones it uses?

I am assuming you meant unmounted? I assume you would have to move it the folder that has all the other phone ringtones

I mean mounted.
And I mean I want to change the default notification tone the phone uses when it's unable to use the one on the card.

gotcha, when I said unmounted I meant from the phone but I guess your way makes more sense lol. yea your best bet is moving the music file into your /system but idk where the ringtones are actually stored at.

Well I don't need it to use mine.
To be a bit more clear, when it can't access mine, it does this ringing one. I want it to do 'droooooooid' instead.

If you have Root Explorer you can move a .mp3 notification from your sdcard to system/media/audio/notifications. You have to press the MOUNT R/W button before you paste it and press MOUNT R/O when its done.

I'm not responsable if you break your phone messing with System files. If you don't feel comfortable don't do it.

That is not what I am trying to do.

It will fix your problem. This will too.

Select the stock one you want under settings/sound and display/notification ringtone Then go to each individual App that uses a notification alert and set in to what you want inside the app itself.

Now when your sdcard is not available it will use what you have selected under settings/notifications.

If you do what I had in my first post it will stay as that notification because it will no longer be on your SDcard.

I'm pretty sure these are defiantly the easiest if not the only ways to fix the problem.

The other way would be to find where google coded it to revert to the ringing notification when the Main Notification is set to a Notification on the SDcard and the SDcard is not available. Why go through all that when the other two options are so much easier.

The first thing, won't fix my problem. As my problem is I WANT the droid sound, not the ring sound as the default one when it can't read the SD card. I don't want to use my custom one. And doing it per application is incredibly unmaintainable.
