I've really tried and tried to tolerate the lag of my eris but with this 2.0 is coming this week or next week or next quarter and the lagging keyboard and launch of apps

I'm officially coming back to join you guys :)

I have been switching(literally every other day) from the droid to the eris to droid and back to the eris

and I am willing to compromise looks for this ugly phone(until the Nexus one and//or Incredible comes) so the eris will be going into the sock drawer with the rest of the lame phones(i.e my env2 and such)

My question is what is the best home replacement because i am going to miss the 7 screens??

Some of them i heard are awfully laggy

i dig home++ . it has a lot of great features ...

3-7 screens with looping

power strip with phone, browser, task mngr, voice command, etc etc. it saves precious screen space.

screen shots of your home screens (for the "post your droid screens" thread)

home screen orientation (unlike the stock home)

and a few other goodies that make it totally worth it. it does force close on me about once every 3 or 4 days, but i dig it. it doesn't seem to lag any more than the stock home, but i don't pay that much attention. i just really like the 7 screens. it lets me put a pic frame of my fam on every screen without worrying about real-estate.

Carmen, welcome back to the Darkside - or should I say DROID Nation?

Rooting is not that bad of a process, and nowadays it can be done pretty simply. Whether you root is up to you, but I recommend it myself.

Also, as for home replacement screens, well, I would have like to have had 7, but nothing I have found plays nicely - so I opted to replace the entire OS instead :p

I now have 5 - good enough for me now, as I have Launcher:D

Lol so do you guys think I should try and root??
FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS LITTLE IF ANY TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS???

Root is not so hard. Definitely worth the hassle. GDE is nice, and simple. When I switched to 2.1 rom, it made my live wallpapers come alive. Which was cool for a few. Overclocking is definitely nice. Eliminates all the lag. Eliminates your battery life too, if you're not paying attention. ;-)

Overall, yes, you should root. Just take your time, and read up.

Wow this thread has gotten out of hand heh.

Good looking girls do that to a forum I guess :)

Anyways don't feel pressure to root, enjoy your droid, it's a fatastic device even just stock.

All these yahoos pressuring people to root wont be there if something were to go wrong. So, take your time and decide for yourself if you want to root someday down the road. Only you are responsible for your phone. (Also, forest fires).

thanks a bunch guys :)

i don't think i'm going to root just yet because idk what im doing and the directions may be simple but i tend to make the simplistic things harddddd soooo...

yeah i might have to deal with GDE home or something another but i am open to hear more about what you guys have to say if there any other suggestions!

While im here....what are you guys favorite apps?
