should i buy the rezound?

I currently own the incredible, which is great. I'm eligible for a new phone. I've owned the incredible since it came out. Of all the phones available now the rezound looks to be the best choice. I'm concerned that a new phone is right around the corner. Since I bought the incredible, the incredible 2, thunderbolt and rezound were released in about 18 months. Would anyone buy the rezound now or wait? Anyone else in the same predicament?

I went from the Inc to the Rezound and haven't regretted it one bit.

In the end it all comes down to personal preference. There will always be another phone coming right around the corner though. For me, I'm completely OK with sticking with the Rezound for the next 20 months (well 18 more now )

Well there is a HTC quad core rumored to come out in 2012 with a 720 p screen but .....at 4.7 " - the leaps to made in technology seems to be in the processor arena but unless you are a big gamer it may not be important enough to see what the dual cores look like in terms of processing speed.....no new battery technology for three or more years.......we will all suffer battery issues for sometime to come......I guess the wonderful Rezound screen in a slightly larger would be good but beyond 4.3 " we are kinda getting into tablet size displays....

Went from the Incredible to the TB to the Rezound ...... for my use of the phone it was the leap to Verizon's blazing fast 4G network which has most increased my smartphone goodness.....it is all personal preference but in the Rezound ....with a snappy dual core and big RAM and ( in my opinion the best screen ) along with 4 G and ICS to come .....this phone rocks and will I think more than satisfy me for severals years.....I tend to enjoy each new phone briefly and then look the next best thing.....with the technological changes no phone can hold the top spot for long but for me the Rezound is not only the best of the three new Verizon 4 G ... it will be the benchmark for a long time ....I say take the leap !!!! ...jay kay. I also had the DiNC...and the rezound is basically the incredible on steroids...theres a lotta other threads that mirror yours which prob have the inspiration your loooking for. Again, yes the rezound is deff worth ittt!

From the Inc to the charge to the rezound and i couldn't be happier. This is everything the Inc is plus what its missing. You'll be happy. Don't wait on something better. Who knows what hyped up disapointment will come out next. You can always do an annual upgrade for only $20 more (than a two year upgrade) next year.

It's my understanding that you won't notice much difference in the quad cores unless you're running some games that can utilize it. Since the quad core phones will be new technology and my Rezound is working great, I'll be happy to let others do the testing and wait till they get the bugs worked out of those.

I'm not going to tell you that you won't have any problems with the Rezound because I think any smartphone can have problems and just because mine works great doesn't mean you won't have problems. However, coming from the Thunderbolt, for me the Rezound is pretty much trouble free. It is superior in every way to the Bolt and in my opinion, superior to about any other smartphone Verizon has right now. It works great for what I need, which most important to me is a good network connection when using the hotspot to tether to my laptop. When tethered to the Bolt my network connection was bad enough to be nearly nonexistent and in comparison, the Rezound is great. (Stable 4G with occasional drops to 3G in an extended coverage area).

If you require much heavy use and can't charge it frequently, you'll probably need the extended battery. Some people report no problem with the battery, but mine is a battery hog. I learned to live with that with the Bolt though, so I don't have high expectations for good battery life with any smartphone. I have no problems with the extended batteries and like the extra thickness for a better grip on the phone. It adds a little weight, but it's a matter of .85 ounces, not pounds.

One thing that was a nice surprise for me was that the Rezound can do screen shots, which I didn't know when I got it.

I am in exactly the same situation. Got the Incredible when it first came out, and my upgrade has been available since Dec 28th. At first I was thinking that I wanted the Vigor (now the Resound) ... then after reading and lurking (which I do best) I drifted towards the Nexus. Now, if I were to get a phone today - It would definitely be the Resound. The thing is - I am still very happy with my Incredible. To get a new phone - because you can - doesnt really make it the right decision. The Incredible was cutting edge when we got it. You are not going to get the same cutting edge technology feeling with the Resound. As everyone else has said - its the Incredible on steroids. If you are happy with your Incredible ... I say wait and see. Just my 2 cents, and I think Im trying to talk myself into waiting as well ... LOL ...

$199 through Verizon, $179 through Wirefly or Amazon vs $299 for the Razr or Nexus which IMO, the Razr doesn't have all the hardware specs (720p being the most obvious), the Nexus has the hardware specs AND ICS but there's all the reported signal sensitivity issues, even if the Rezound was still $299, I'd still recommend it over the other 2 devices. $100-$120 off makes it an even easier decision.

I have yet to run an app on the Rezound that has any problem with the processing power of the Rezound. The only issues I've seen is with the Rezound's 720p resolution. Some apps don't like the higher resolution. App developers still haven't maximized the potential of dual-core processors so it's probably going to be a while before they build quad-core specific apps.

As was said, there is a constant flow of newer better phones that seen to keep coming out. I was debating between the incredible and the Droid x, went with the dx. Shortly after the x2 came out, then a bunch of 4g phones. It's just the way it is. I typically change phones one a year and even if I couldn't change the rezound out for two years I wouldn't be dissatisfied. This phone has been a dream to use, very stable and does everything I could want it to. So in short, if you dig it, go for it. You won't be disappointed.

Maybe I'm missing something because I never had the Incredible, but there are at least 1000 flashlight apps on the Android market that you can easily download if you want one. For me, a flashlight app would just be adding one more app to the already excessive amount of bloatware.

I'm finding the same thing over at the Verizon forums. Verizon doesn't even have a Rezound forum and everyone seems to think we should just use the Bolt forum because the Rezound is a Thunderbolt that got Beats, some red lights and a couple of hardware tweaks. I'm about to give up trying to change their minds.

I too moved from the Incredible to the Rezound and think that the phone is great. I upgraded, not because I had was due, but had dropped the Incredible and cracked the screen. I got the Rezound for $199 and so far that phone has worked great. It's faster and the 4G connection is amazing.

The one thing I have noticed with the larger screen, is some sites I visit in the browser that are mobile specific, don't scale to the larger screen.

I would recommend the phone.

I just ordered the Rezound for my upgrade from the DINC. I am/was so in love withe the DINC. The size fit perfectly into my hand, the buttons with my case are so easy to hit, and I can reach the entire screen with my thumb for one-handed use, quick and easy. HTC is my favorite so far. I'm just hoping the Rezound meets my expectations for ergonomics too. It will take some getting used to for the buttons on the other side, I guess. But the big improvement for me is the screen is a bit larger for viewing and WAY sharper. The DINC resolution is week for a small screen and kinda hard to navigate with your fingers with some websites due to the small size. I'm hoping the Rezound is better. And I hope the battery is OK. Any suggestions for a case that has raised buttons?

Where it ads some bulk to the phone and the built in screen protector sorta washes out such a beautiful display, the otterbox defenders series fits perfect and easily will satisfy the need for raise buttons.

Well, I believe it's a great value. You would be taking advantage of not buying a "Droid" branded phone on Verizon, which automatically saves $$$. The screen is amazing, and the phone is nice and fast. I suggest an extended battery if you plan on keeping data on all day, so you don't have to worry about running low, just in case. I just installed go launcher, and oh my, I had no idea most of this was possible without rooting! It's like a new phone again, woohooo!

Sure, new things will always come out. Quad core is already making the Rezound, Nexus, etc look old, but as I said before, that drives down the price also. The Rezound is still a great phone, though it didn't get much advertising, coming out between the first Razr version and Nexus. It was the only phone that seemed to even come close to making me want it the same way the OG Droid did when it first came out. I don't regret my purchase one bit!

I just got a Rezound coming from a Dinc that I passed onto the wife. Its still a great phone I think and I will miss it but will still be able to visit it lol.

With that said so far I think the Rezound is a awesome phone. I got it for $99 on VZ site so it made it that much easier to upgrade to. If you wait till the next big thing you'll always be waiting. Take the plunge and come on in,the waters fine.

A week in with the phone, and I'm no longer complaining about the flush buttons...really no big deal. I've accustomed myself to hitting the sleeper/power button now. Still ordered a case that I hope I'll like. Battery life is worse, for sure...but still not bad. Just gotta throw it on a charger when not using it, but seems like I have many options and opportunities for that. Extra battery might be nice or the extended battery for trips...I don't know. The screen is gorgeous!! Wow. Perfect. Beats Audio is a joke, but I like the headphones. Just get a free music app with an equalizer and you're good to go...far better than Beats... Silly gimmick, IMO. But that's the way the system works. $99 on Verizon is super cheap for this quality phone! Love the size too. No complaints so far.
