Official "I still have my Incredible with no problems" thread

My Incredible is still hanging in there. Running better than ever. I'm still running the official Gingerbread from Verizon, without the update patch, but I am rooted. I got rid of all the bloat junk and started using ADW Ex and WidgetLocker. Making all those changes made it feel like a new phone. It feels snappier and is actually a lot more stable.

My contract is up in July and I think my Inc is going to go into semi-retirement, I guess you could say. I am going to fully retire my iPod and re-purpose my Incredible to fill that void. At the moment I am thinking of running CM9 and just using my phone for games, music, stuff like that. As for what will replace my Inc, i have no idea. At the moment its probably a tie between the GNex and the Droid 4 (that keyboard is darn tempting). But I still have 6 months so who knows what will change.

My incredible is just that. Incredible. Runs wonderfully. Only issue is I can never get it to update to gingerbread when it says I have an update. Just counts down and then does nothing at 0.

Why don't you take it into Verizon?

search for 4.08.605.2 in google and there should be a link to a VZW forum that tells you how to clear the cache partition. i did that on my wife's INC and it fixed that problem.

Mine works great except for the low space notification. A front camera would be nice but I haven't seen a new phone that gives me that many more capabilities. I will hang on to my Incredible until the next big jump in technology occurs. Maybe I'll buy a quadcore in a few months.

What are you doing with your phone that quad core would actually benefit?
Almost no mobile apps are that processor intensive, and even the ones that are usually bottleneck on network resources or Graphics hardware anyways.

Basically any improvement in hardware capabilities is being lost by crapily written, inefficient software. I think it's pretty telling that the actual use experience between our phones and the current generation really isn't that different. I was looking at phones at Verizon yesterday, and honestly there was more lag on them then my Incredible. I'm sure that will be improved significantly once you get rid of some of the junk, but it's still incredibly annoying.

I'm still sticking with my Inc. I pre-ordered it and waited an absurd amount of time for it due to the AMOLED shortage in 2010. Ended up with an AMOLED version, rooted it and I've ran lots of ROMs over the almost 2 years.

After settling on CM7 as my daily ROM, I can say that I'm sticking with this phone until it dies. It does everything I want, I'm grandfathered into Verizon's unlimited data, and I personally hate the new trend of 4+" screens. They all just look so massive to me. I love the Inc's iPhone-like size and everything just works for me. Battery life has been great since I've been flashing ROMs/kernels.

FYI you keep the unlimited data if you change phones/plans.

You need to do a factory reset for the update to install correctly.

Hard Reset - DROID INCREDIBLE by HTC

Backup all your data first, because you will need to reinstall all your apps afterwards. It was worth it to me because I didn't reinstall a whole bunch of apps I never used.

My Incredible has been, well, Incredible. No issues whatsoever. Great size, updates are current, NOT rooted at all, and I've been very happy with it. My contract is up in a few months but not sure if the original Dinc will be getting Ice Cream Sandwich??? Otherwise, I'm not really looking around at other phones, but am curious about upgrading. I'm just in no rush...

I think that hand full of us that still have our Inc do not visit the forums all to often anymore. I check here and XDA every once and a while now and it seems like most of the Inc Forums have died off. Everybody else must of moved on, but now there isn't these fun forums to read on the device I still own... :-( O-well....
