Any chance 2.1 will fix the accelerometer?

I am sick of my phone taking an eternity to switch into landscape mode and back to portrait. This phone has the slowest accelerometer of any I have ever seen. Is there any way this will be fixed in 2.1? Or will over-clocking once we have root do it? I want to know whether there is hope...

I have to admit, While I was reading this I changed from portrait to landscape and benchmarked the time it took. I couldn't even say one in the time it took to switch. And just for testing I did it again and same result. I would take the advice from above and calibrate because its pretty damn fast on my end.:D

like all things with the eris its probably based on the CPU load on the phone. if you've got all kinds of apps running (widgets and fun stuff on your home screen) it may take an extra half second to do stuff including rotate. 2.x may help manage it better, but time will tell. let us know if it helps when it comes out.

so theoretically spare parts may help if you tweak your phone the right way. realistically... try it and let us know.

I just went around my office and did a quick test, just to see how other phones perform with screen rotation. Timed them all using a second hand on a watch. When I say a half second it is because the full second had not passed.

The test phones and their results:
Droid Eris - 2 seconds
Moto Droid - 1.5 seconds
HTC G1 - 3 seconds
Sprint Hero - 2 seconds
iPhone - 2 seconds
iPhone 3gs - 1.5 seconds
Blackberry Storm 1 - 3 seconds

Does anyone else find 2 seconds to be that big of a deal?
