Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

I seem to have run into only one problem since rooting.
My Nexus will not pair with bluetooth in my car. Up until rooting I had no problems and it worked like a charm. I've looked at all the settings in phone and car and am clueless. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
In a lighter note, I successfully flashed my first custom rom last night. I went with AOKP. Then this morning I flashed Franco's kernel.
Lovin this phone.
Only problem was getting backup assistant back, but finally remembered my Titanium Backup and it worked like a charm. If I can figure out how to get all my Verizon contacts transferred to my Google, I would be much happier.

Thanks

Whitelisting everything is a diagnostic step to tell me that it's not borking your phone just by being installed. ;)

But I think that you have the idea now, blacklist to block, whitelist to allow.
Well, okay, let's assume that it works properly with everything whitelisted. Is the idea that you can save battery by not allowing certain applications to access data? Or does the firewall serve some purpose even when all applications are whitelisted?
Thanks

The firewall is to protect you from rogue apps.

Only whitelist things that you want to give access to the net.

As most people run kute, fun apps without realizing that kute is an inducement for marketing or malware, keeping that stuff off the net might save some battery but that's not why it exists.

Look at it this way - how sure are you that apps that you expect to stay local to your phone are not in touch with servers elsewhere?

Rather than allow that and then try running harder to scan all traffic for malware (a step that may not always work), a firewall inhibits unauthorized traffic from sources you block.

You can't firewall the internet for browsing but you might be surprised to find things like live wallpapers wanting to phone home, and how does a network-aware and active wallpaper make sense?

On Monday, January 30 at 2:00 p.m. the New Jersey Assembly Law & Public Safety Committee is scheduled to consider A588, legislation that would enable the Attorney General to ban all handgun and most rifle ammunition if he unilaterally determines that it "poses a threat to the safety and well being of law enforcement officers.”

NJ ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE

TO CONSIDER AMMO BAN & MORE!

A588 would enable the Attorney General to ban handgun and rifle ammunition by executive fiat.

Common hunting, target, and self-defense ammunition would be subject to ban under A588, along with BB’s, airgun pellets, and plastic airsoft pellets!

Additional legislation being considered (A1013) could land gun owners in jail for refinished or damaged firearms that might be deemed "defaced”

It was always my understanding that PDAnet full edition (the one that lets you go anywhere, including secure sites) was like $30. Well, I just check the price and - for a limited time - it's only $15.95! :D

I have no idea how long this sale has been going or how long it will last... but if you're like me and don't want to risk Verizon busting you for wifi tethering, this is a fire sale. I jumped on it.

Just thought I'd share a good thing...

Oh, that's BRILLIANT! Create an atmosphere in which the only gun owners in the state are non-law abiding criminals! Violent crime will skyrocket. It has been shown time and time again that violent crime goes down when criminals are faced with the prospect of a potentially armed victim.

<--- SHHHH! Chief has a carry permit :D

I like you more and more.

as my grandfather always told me, a gun without ammo is just a funny shaped club.

<--- Also has a carry permit. ;)

Is it relatively easy to get the permits in TN and SC? In CA, they are next to impossible. Even with friends in high places and documented death threats (as a celebrity gatekeeper), I can't get one without sign-off from the Governor's office (or so it seems).

Also, remind me to avoid pissing you guys off. :)

Thanks. I could write a book, let me tell you. I regularly get letters from incarcerated and recently paroled felons, "gifts" from stalkers with sliced and diced photos of clients with blood, you name it. I have local and Fed threat management on speed dial. Recently helped put away an arsonist who was sending threats to clients and the authorities hung me out to dry ("sorry, no overt act")...UNTIL he copied the threat to LAX. THEN they decided to grab the guy. :D

I'd probably be entertained for hours listening to your stories. Let me know if you're ever this way....I'll buy, you be a storyteller

In Tennessee you are required to go through an 8-hour handgun carry permit course to learn the do's and don'ts, the laws, and reciprocal states. Then pass the written test. Then off to the range with your gun to demonstrate proficiency (I hit 49 rounds out of 50 at 20 yards... without my glasses ;) ). Then you get fingerprinted and cross-indexed against databases of bad guys to make sure you can legally carry. And then you get a 5-year permit.

Oh BTW: you can piss me off all you want. Just don't threaten me, my family or my stuff. For someone stupid enough to do that, I have 9mm worth of hollow point waiting for them ;)

Im really getting bummed about the data connection problems and even more so on the voice call quality. Most calls are pretty much garble garble which is a shame. Today i had to reboot my phone just to get data back. I thought the network was out but my xoom worked fine. My 4g speeds with even full bars are about 5mbps on average.

Im kind of kicking my self for not taking the phone back during the 14 day period but since i waited so long for the device i would try to deal with the issues. This looks like a hardware issue with the radio. Im bummed. :(

exactly the same in SC. permit is $50 plus whatever you pay for the class.

i personally opt for .40 S&W, but to each their own. ;)
