Attain 4G vs Indulge

No.. you have just about covered it. You gain a lousy quality camera and lose a lousy quality keyboard. Its practically the same phone. I'd still rather have the keyboard than the extra camera. If you already have the indulge then its not at all worth buying the attain.

Actually even if you don't have the indulge, and you are thinking of buying one or the other, I'd still get the indulge. Both are 200 from metro (mail in rebate for attain - $250 out the door, 200 for indulge out the door) .

Buuut.. for some odd reason you can buy a brand-new indulge from wirefly for $157, that's including the taxes, and the shipping is free from fed ex. I just bought one from them lol. I thought long and hard about which to get ... indulge or attain.. indulge for roughly 150 is hard to pass up. Used part of the money I saved to buy an extended battery.

Add an extended battery to the indulge, and you'll love the keyboard.
The phone actually feels better with the extended case and fits better for typing when using the bigger back cover.

This is very right. Without the extra width from the extended batt back cover, my hand an fingers used to hurt while surfing an texting. It adds comfort.

Very good point bud i was going to say that, and i agree with redhook as well i bought the phone thinking i was going to use the keyboard alot but i guess since it was faster just to use the swype keyboard to respond to messages and not having to slide out that 3.4 inch keyboard out. but every1 is different. just my 2 cents.:D

So the Attain 4G is an Indulge with camera flash and Gingerbread, front facing 1.3 camera, 1650mAh battery, also does panoramic pictures native (without an app). Anything else different?

On the MPCS website it says "900mAh", and it says "Slider" but the Samsung website doesn't agree.

Here are the specs from Samsung Specs - More Cell Phone Providers SCH-R920 | Samsung Cell Phones

The attain has a better chipset (same one as the esteem) Ive had the indulge and my dad just got the attain. Its everything the indulge should have been minus a crappy keyboard.

And imo two roms isn't that much (although both are very helpful) yes there is support, but I believe the attain will get a community similar to that of the admire.
Its ok though you guys are on the road to acceptance :)

While the indulge is not perfect, its really not as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. Sure it doesn't have the biggest dev community, and no its not as good as the esteem, but for the price, with the basix rom and an extended battery the phone does hold its own still.

True, I wasn't trying to demote the indulge altogether, just giving my view of the competition between the indulge and attain :)

there is a rom out there that includes app2sd to solve your memory problem.

You need to make sure you're using a Class 6 microSD card if you install your apps on the card though. Class 10 are good for sequential read/write speeds but the Class 6 has better random read/write speeds which are what you want when running apps off the card.

You can get the Esteem for $268.88 on Wirefly right now. Not a bad deal if you're looking to upgrade.

Oh I know, I wasn't trying to pick on ya lol, I just meant that the bad wrap the indulge has gotten overall isn't necessarily deserved. I think if the esteem hadn't come out everyone on metro would be in love with the indulge. Its all a matter of that next big thing. Its not good enough for some people to merely admit that the indulge isn't the best, they have to bash it too, often times too harshly.

Edit : sorry for the double post ;)

ive had the admire, the indulge and now have the attain... id have to say attain hands down

tethering is a BIG thing for me (Apk: DIY phone gadgets 1 click tehter no root)... i can tether with the attain with NO ROOT :) got to love that. plus i have benchmarked the induldge/attain on tethering and ATTAIN blows it out of the water.. ive had my attain tetherd to my ps3, my schr720(admire), dell laptop (metro sometimes wont conect laptop due to no root) and made a phone call while on speaker phone for two(2)hours with NO LAG or OVERHEATING :)
the Induldge needs root to tether plus it runs hot after 45 min. or so :-/ i gues it all should be based on what it is you like to do with your phone. plus the interface transition is A LOT smoother:) two thumbs up for the Attain
