Phone Call beep / squeal?

After connecting a call, my wife's stratosphere intermittently makes a very loud beep / squeal / squeek. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks!

Yeah I noticed this too on a call the very first day. It sounds like the chirp from a corrupted MP3 file. I also notice when you are calling someone it goes:

RIIIIIIING (SHHHH)
RIIIIIIING (SHHHH)

Like static after the ring. It's a good thing I never use the phone for calls or this would bug me haha.

the beep does sound like the start of a corrupted MP3 file.
so I got a refurb replacement from verizon that is doing the same thing.
and the beeps / squeak / squeal occur at random times throughout the call on both phones.
any ideas?

which lead me to another forum post, where a verizon rep said to try turning off Voice Privacy.

Voice Privacy:
Menu
Settings
Call Settings
Un-check Voice Privacy
Restart Phone

I have only had Voice Privacy off for one day but haven't heard the squeal. I will report back in a week and let you all know.

THANKS. since this post, I turned off voice privacy and all is well. NO more squeaks so far on the refurb unit. I bet this would have worked on my original phone too...

Also, chaning the message ring tones, phone ring tones, etc did nothing to fix the problem.

UPDATE. Squeaking returned with Voice Privacy off. Sad.

Just updating to say that the screeching remains. While i was in canada recently I wasted a good 3 minutes of talk time (3 failed calls) trying to call our hotel and heard nothing but distortion. I also noticed the noises while using pandora once I was driving back in the US.

I had this happen once, for a very short time. Once in many, many calls.

I'm just reporting back to say since I flashed TweakStock I haven't had the problem "knock on wood"

Yea, tweakstock is pretty stable, it solved a lot of my instability problems. The phone is just all around better with it, hopefully some more bug fixes and features get released soon. I'm itchin to try out some new things.

I do not have that option of unchecking Voice Privacy, and I could not find it anywhere else. Is there another way to fix the squeaking sound when playing Pandora? Thank you for your time!
