Hi,

Im new to thise forum,so if i have posted on the wrong place, please exuse me.

I have a wonderfull, :) Huawei u8800 with Android 2.2. I really wanna put 2.3 on, so i have heard that to do that,i have to root my phone. Can someone please tell me how it works, and how i do it? :)

Thanks,

You will need Z4root (or SuperBoot, but Z4root is easier) and CWM to install custom ROMs. At the moment there is no stable ROM that has 2.3, some devs are trying to port CM7 to the U8800.

Here is a complete guide for rooting, installing CWM and flashing custom ROMs. Basically everything you need. I'm sure they will update when gingerbread is available for the U8800.

Hello. I want to know what i should do before rooting firtst time. What backups?

Hey Chico!!

I saw the guys directed you over here from the Evo 4G forum and I wanted to follow up and make sure you get your questions answered. :)

The apps that were listed in your post over in the evo forum still apply for your phone.
Go into your contacts app and check the listing for each contact. They should be listed as google contacts so they will be backed up to the cloud. If not look around in the menu for your contacts and see if you can change them to google contacts, or look for an export to sd function. This way you can either save them to the cloud or you can export them to your sd, then import them if you change your rom. ;)

The sms messages and call logs can be backed up with the apps the fellas gave you earlier.

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.punsoftware.backup&feature=search_result
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rerware.android.MyBackupPro&feature=search_result

These should be all you need to back up before you root. :)

Once you do root may I recommend Titanium Backup. It will back up all your apps and the app data so you don't have to start over every time you flash a new rom. ;)

If you have any questions let us know!! :D

I rooted with superclick, now i can see superuser application on my applications. How will i understand if it is rooted or not, and what is next now?

well if you downloaded and application that requires root and if that app works, than you are good ;)
But there is also an application on the market called root checker or something similar, that checks if you have root permissions.
