Is There A Way To Buy SGNote LTE Outright and Only Buy Tablet Data Plan?

I didn't call yet, no. I don't expect whoever I call to even know what the Note is since it's not released yet, but I guess that's just me not having much faith in AT&T. I might stop by the store in the mall tomorrow though.
I was curious because I don't think I've heard of anyone being able to do this with any of their phones before, though I hope they'll be cooler about it because it's somewhat of a tablet as well.

You may have an easier time with the 3G Galaxy Tab 7.7...basically a 7.7" note. It has an earpiece and phone app where the Tab 7.0 Plus does not. It can also be purchased "unlocked", and considered a Tab, and shouldn't require a voice plan.

FWIW, I'm using the T-Mobile branded Tab 7.0 Plus on AT&T's $15/mo "MediaNet" plan, as the Tab supports AT&T's 3G bands. The Tab 7.7 should work the same, and will most likely be mynext device.

As of this morning the answer was no. They see this as a smart phone and all smartphones require a voice plan.

I wanted to buy the LTE with no contract at full price and add data sim. I guess they only want part of my money because I'll upgrade with the iphone 5.

I think someone high up needs to think more out of the box. contract voice/data phone and data plan "phablet", all at one company seems like good cash to me.

I assume you talked to someone there? If so it's disappointing, but it's their loss. I'll find a way to make it work or use another carrier. I wonder what their official thoughts are on the overseas version being used just for data, cause I think quite a few people have pulled that off.

I'd love to know how others have pulled data only off on the overseas one. I wanted the overseas one but lack of insurance for drop/damage on a device at full price made me pause.

I fear that whatever update they do for the ATT note will auto change international versions. I have no technical expertise and would happy to have my fears vanish.
