Question: Anyone get a significant better battery life after root?

I have a veird drain issue too.

I turn on my samsung galaxy nexus and I didn't run maps but they still drain a lot of energy. I can't kill maps process or service. Location services and GPS are turned off but maps are still running. I want to use maps so uninstall is not an option. What can I do?

You've only used 10% of the battery which means Maps used <3%. It doesn't seem like much of a drain to me.

Maps always runs in the background, I believe, for location purposes. But you said you have that disabled, so I'm not sure what it is still doing. Tried Clear Data on Maps?

I agree that the tiny sample presented above doesn't necessarily prove a problem.

Now if Maps, over the course of your entire battery life, continues to use 10% of your battery - that's a problem. After a normal day and with the phone almost dead, where does Maps rank on your battery list?

That's mine. I didn't use the phone allll day. Just normal use. Couple phone calls. U can see the gaps in my screen on showing how often it was on and off. I look at my phone a lot. This was yesterday. First time I have experience this. It is to connected to my wifi hotspot to mitigate data usage. In thinking that helps?

In roughly 16 minutes my battery has dropped to 55% from my last post which was 65%. All I've been doing is messing with phone setting. No Facebook no twitter just fanDroid and Uninstalling some apps. This battery sucks! Period.

Glad im going on 13 hours, have 47 percent left! Love it! No extended battery either. Aokp rom, franco kernel, 4.0.4 radios.

Some roms and Kernels have been said to really help battery life. Most that do help battery life help a minimal amount. some will help, but not huge but also really depends on how you use your phone. I'm on codename rom and my battery may be a little better.

15 hours, 2+ hours screen time, with JD ultimate on aggressive setting and still have 10% left. which will get me another hour or 2 with minimal use(mostly texting). I would usually be dead by now. I usually die around 13-14 hours but I've been getting an extra hour or 2 and I've got the processor overclocked to 1350 mhz.

I'm telling you right now, it has more to do with your screen being on than anything else. I haven't really touched my phone for the last 7 hours but even before that all day I had normal usage and like I said I look at my phone a lot.

I don't have root nor in extended battery, however, except for the last 7 hours I was on wifi all day. And my battery still lasted all day. The only thing I can say for the last 7 hours (no wifi on) is my screen was off MOST of the time, oh and i talked on the phone for 5 minutes. The last 2 days, i have been on wife all day and that is all that has changed. Before that, my batt would die just like you guys in a short amount of time.

im running 4.0.2 for the record.
