can someone please direct me to a link explaining how i should root my phone.

is rooting with "CFROOT" best. as i want to be able to install cfroot manager so i can do rom backups
and is rooting a I9100T the same as rooting a I9100???

Thanks Heaps to anyone who can help

Hi, i wrote a post in the at&t forum and they said my phone is same as internation version.
Here is the post i wrote:
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-t-all-things-root/495642-stable-ics-build-i9100t.html
Please can someone confirm which forum this should be on
Cheers corey

I stand corrected. After reading more on xda it would seem that the "T" version is the same as the "International" one.

If that is the case, then you should be able to use the rooting guide. here:-

Ok thanks heaps.
But just to make sure. Is the anyone here who can confirm that i root my phone in the same way as the internation one??.
Has anyone else here rooted a i9100t the same way as the i9100???

And can i do a nadroid backup of my stock rom, if i root it with the above guide???
Thanks heaps to anyone who can help

Maybe these posts may help you:-

[Q] Debrand, etc. [A] How to root GT-I9100T (Australian user) - xda-developers

What is the difference between the I9100 and the I9100T? - xda-developers

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1774956

It would appear that both the i9100 and i9100T (for Telstra) are identical in every respect, save one. That is the "T" version has a different modem that is optimised to 850 MHz band which both Telstra and Vodafone networks appear to use in Australia.

Therefore, if you rooted and installed custom ROM's it is not a problem except for the "T" modem which would have to be flashed afterwards.

See post #5 here:-

[FIXED] Help With Reception on Galaxy S2 i9100-T (TELSTRA AU VERSION) - xda-developers

Hope this helps. :D

Since rooting only changes the kernel, then from everything I have read, you will have no problems.

The modem conflict only occurs when you come to flash a ROM at a later date. You will need to download and install the modem for the, "T", variant afterwards so that it is compliant with your network. Your problem would appear to be finding a modem for ICS that is compliant with your network should you choose to install ICS.

The, "current", modem you are inquiring after is shown in the link I posted earlier but I fear that the current modem is not compatible with the ICS ROM..

To be honest, when I wrote that guide, I was not aware of the, "T", variant and it's needs.

ok thanks heaps. i am downloading all the stuff i need now to root it :)
but i do have a few more qustions lol.
what is the best way to backup all my apps, and media???
i have already backed up my data with mybackup pro.
and do you know how i would go about doing a nadroid backup after i have rooted it?. as i want to be able to flash back to my stock rom after i have installed customs roms. in case of warranty problems ect.

and if i install a 4.0.3 ics custom rom. do you know how i would go about updating to the official ics rom for my phone. which is being released in the next month or two???. as i dont think you can do the update thing from within the phone, like you can with a stock rom.

Thanks heaps if you can help

You should not need a back-up to just root your phone as, if you do it correctly, nothing is changed apart from the kernel. As you are not rooted at the moment, MyBackUp Pro is about all you can use. After rooting you can install Titanium Backup which offers a lot more features. See the, "Dummies Guide", for info.

do you know how i would go about doing a nadroid backup after i have rooted it?. as i want to be able to flash back to my stock rom after i have installed customs roms. in case of warranty problems ect.

To do a nandroid backup after rooting you would use CWM Manager that is installed automatically when you root. See, "Dummies Guide".

and if i install a 4.0.3 ics custom rom. do you know how i would go about updating to the official ics rom for my phone. which is being released in the next month or two???. as i dont think you can do the update thing from within the phone, like you can with a stock rom.

You would have to revert back to the stock firmware you are on now for Kies to recognise your handset or you could flash it via Odin.

I would reiterate, I know of no ICS modems for the T variant at present.

Hi, thanks heaps, i have just rooted my phone. and i am very pleased with it, now all i have to do is go and install some custom roms :)
but i have another problem now :-(
i bought a usb jig the other day. so that i could remove the yellow triangle on start up, aswell as for warranty purposes.
but when i do as it say in the video (turn phone off, and plug jig in) it goes in to download mode. but it does not show the "eraseing download information succeded. it just says:
Factory mode
product name: GT-i9100T
Custom binary download: yes (1 counts)
current binary: custom"

from what i have seen it should be like it is in this video:

How to use USB jig on Galaxy S2 i9100 to reset download counter or remove yellow triangle - YouTube

can someone please tell me if i am doing something wrong? or what i should do about it??

Thanks heaps to anyone who can help
Cheers corey

If you want to use a custom boot animation you will have to flash a kernel which supports them first such as siyah.

I'm not sure how you go about removing the Vodafone screen manually but if you were planning to put on a custom ROM that should get rid of it.

It might be that your phone has the new bootloader which the USB jig doesn't work on. But again if you are going to use a custom ROM that should instal the old one and the jig should work.

Hi all, i have got my phone working well now. and i ahve managed to put the android pissing on apple bootloader i wanted on it as well ;-)

i found out that samsung have dissabled the usb jig from resetting the counter on its latest bootloader,
so i downloaded an older one and it is working fine now.

Thanks heaps for all your help
