Camera. are you happy with it?

I'm a droid and the camera isnt where it should be. i do think there is improvement to be done to it, but i noticed i am taking less pictures.

thoughts?

The only time I have been frustrated with the n1 camera was for the week or so I was running sense. 3mp ftl!!!

Its better than nothing. The sense II has a better zoom... but as I mentioned... 3mp

Tap the screen in camera mode, and a zoom control will appear at the bottom of the screen.

Yeah. The zoom for the sense hi can is more like a camera. You have a slide that you use to zoom in an out with and you effectively dial in everything like this; saturation, ISO, everything. Once it is able to be set at a reasonable MP it will really be nice.

I'm liking the Nexus Ones' camera a lot! Far better than my HTC Heros'! Although I've found that some of the pictures taken at night are slightly out of focus, even with the flash. If it had a small light that helped it focus first it'd be perfect!

digital zooming or not zooming at all is the same.
By the way, for a camera with optical zoom I'd look for a proper camera and not a phone.

i got a tip to try market app Pro Camera 5X Zoom. "It dramatically changes (for the better) the camera's performance."

Coming from a behold 2(Which imho has the best camera interface of any android phone, just ask around) to a nexus one camera, its not that bad. It takes better pics then i thought it would, the digital zooms ok, the flash is decent and the shutter speed is good. I stopped carrying a digital camera years ago because for my needs my cel phone camera has been enough, but im also aware that the quality of my pics may vary depending on how and when i use my camera. The nexus is decent but then again its not the camera that i would use at my wedding, but its fine for a day at the beach or taking pics at the bar/party.

I think to many people hear 5 mega pixels and expect it to be a great camera forgetting that mega pixels has nothing to do with picture quality and everything to do with the resolution.

Camera? You want a really good camera, get a DSLR. You want an okay "on-the-go" camera, get a digital camera.

On the other hand if you want a smart phone the Motorola Droid and the Nexus One is what you want.

BTW, in terms of specs, I do believe the Droid is a little better "as a camera" than the Nexus One.

I like the camera. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the resolution affected the quality of the pictures (at least if your going to be viewing it on a screen larger than the phone's). Actually I know that it does. Higher MP = higher quality more or less. Of course there are other factors (stabilization, ISO, white balance)

I like how the guy keeps talking about his droid.

I've been wanting to see a droid in the wild, or a nexus for that matter. I'm the only one I know with an Android phone :'(

You mean the Droid performs worse than the 3 seconds it takes the BB Storm to capture the picture after you press the button? If you don't hold the damn thing still, it blurs. It's worse than my Razr. The Storm is a nice touch screen exchange server email device. Outside of that, it's complete junk.

All I've seen is the Pandora app on the BB Storm, and it's enough for me to never consider the device. There's like a 2 minute pause between songs.

+1 for the Nexus.

Coming from many Nokia N-Series phones (N73, N95 and N97) I can say that the Nexus One's camera is not as nice. However, I do enjoy the OS more than I did on my Nokias so the compromise isn't too bad for me
