Root Dead root community?

Is the root community non-existent for this device? I see and appreciate garys work...but was curious if we are going to see CM9 or anything like that on this device? Also any kernels that fully support overclocking? GPU overclocking? Touchwizless? Just you know -- your general fun root stuff ;)

Thanks!

Just asking,I bought my daughter one of the 7.0 plus galaxys for Christmas, and I cant see why youd want to root it,other than to heavily customize the ui,or turn it into a phone (6200 only)....its fast out of the box, does screenshots,is dead stable,no data plan to need wireless tether....Im not suprised there isnt much on it....

I'm not really surprised either I guess, but I figured there'd be an ICS ROM out for it. Customizations would be nice and I may end up trying to do that myself. The one thing I've noticed is that by default I didn't have rw permissions for my external SD card. I found the answer to that question and it's solved. I can now copy to and from the SD card and delete anything on it.

If you want to run IPSec VPN client that uses group authentication, you need to root. Also need a tun.ko module for the tablet as well, not sure if they have that yet, thus I have not yet rooted it. Work keeping me too busy.

Well mine's rooted, and has CWM on it. But there doesn't seem to be any custom firmwares about.

I don't "get" it, the Tab plus is such a great device, how come no-ones creating stuff for it?

More than likely because 4.0 will be released for it relatively soon. That coupled with the fact that it's really not a very popular device relatively speaking.

I figure it is the popularity..but it hasn't really been mentioned much in the ICS update posts either. I hardly use this device because of how sluggish Honeycomb feels compared to ICS (have the Prime as well). I basically quit carrying this device since I got my Prime;however, i find the 7 incher to be way more convenient....so ICS is THE only reason I would want a form of solid rooting support.

But in a perfect world....

Hello guys!

I'm new to android and have been researching the forum to see if my question is posted, but could not find it. Hopefully I"m not the first (i really doubt it).

I purchased a Verizon Galaxy Tab 7.
Details:
Hardware version: I800.0.3
Model: SCH-I800
Firmware version: 2.2

I cannot get the tablet to reformat: Here is what i've tried.
Turn off tablet>Boot plus vol up>into the "android system recovery <3e>
I than select "wipe data/factory reset and "wipe cache partition"
than select "reboot system now"

Tablet reboots, select English and acts like its formated going through setup EXCEPT> last users info is still on device, pictures, gmail and it acts up by apps crashing.

Will a root fix the issue? or is there any way to reformat the device via USB? Any help will be appreciated.

How did you fix the rw issue? it drives me crazy to have to plug in the tablet every time I want to copy & paste something on the card.

Where can I find a working ics rom?
Depends if you want cm9 or the stock (which is now out at least for the European zone and can be loaded by Odin)

also depends on your variant (P6200 and P6210 have ROM released for stock, I don't think the P6201, P6211 or the T869 variants have a stock ROM released. Also not sure if the stock ROM works for the P6200L or not.

There were a couple dozen firmwares dropped by Samsung since last night (US eastern time at least) and I haven't fully sorted through those yet, but I don't think I missed anything for the 62XX or the T869
