Help HTC Incredible Wont Turn On

My HTC Incredible wont turn on. Sometimes when I push the power, it vibrates once but then then nothing happens after that.

Hello Jonnay (moved your question to the Incredible Support area for you). I'm wondering if you have that old problem of an app/widget/launcher service program that is free-wheeling after shutdown, disallowing a true, full shutdown.

The remedy for when the issue is occurring is to pull the battery out, then put it back in after a minute or so and go ahead and boot up.

The next step is to try to ferret out which program is doing it, either by trial and error or just removing all 3rd party apps by doing a factory data reset, then starting over with apps and widgets one at a time until you see the one that started the problem doing it again. Very time consuming.

If you've rooted, and have ROMs or kernel changes, that's a horse of a different color. ;)

This thread hasn't seen any activity in a while, so I don't feel bad if this hijacks it...

BUT.. I'm having a very similar issue. Mine won't turn on either. I do get the LED notification light to blink (1 orange light long blink, pause, short blink... repeats over and over).

If I do a battery pull, then push power, nothing visible other than the blinky LED. Not even a vibration. I haven't waited a full 60 seconds before putting the battery back in, but there was 1 or 2 times when I probably did wait 30 seconds. Hmm...

Just to note, this does have CM7.1 on it. Also, the service from Verizon has been transferred to another phone (Droid Razr), so I only use this phone for wifi / playing games on it. I activated my new phone about a week ago, and the problem only started last night.

[edit] Oh, I forgot to mention... On Saturday it worked fine all day. That night I plugged it into my PC USB port (phone was still powered on (sleep mode), PC was off, but there is still power going through my USB hub). Not sure if this makes a difference. I've charged my phone this way before.... [/edit]

Besides waiting a little bit longer before putting the battery in - any other suggestions?

Sounds like you may have toasted the battery.

I rooted it using unrevoked. I didn't put any roms on it, made sure not to delete any important files. I factory reset it because I was going to upgrade and then everything went downhill from there.

Is there a way I can just connect it to a computer and use the command prompt to set up the phone to factory?

I know this is a dead post but I thought this might be helpful for the next schmuck like me that thinks his or her phone is gone forever.

My DINC would not turn on after a drop from the chair to the ground (which probably had nothing to do with the problem) and earlier that day my son watched about 1 hour worth of netflix on my phone making it very hot when I put it in my pocket (probably the real culprit).

My phone turned itself off in my pocket and I couldn't turn it back on. Gave it a full charge, took the batter out and put back in about 100 time waiting up to a few minutes before replacing a few times, tried to hard reset but even that wouldn't come on.

Searched in vain for someone online who would give me hope it might come back on eventually (and came across this thread in the process). Finally decided that in the case that my phone was too hot, the freezer might do some good. I put my phone in for about 10 min and pulled out my ice cube droid and it turned right on with no problems other than some frost that I wiped off.

Just a suggestion to anyone who searches for "Incredible won't turn on" in the future.

I know this is an old post but I just dealt with this issue and found the cure. My phone was very low on battery so I pulled it out and switched it with what I thought was a charged battery. After finding out it would not boot at all I switched back to the low battery. Now the phone would not boot on either one. I put it on my car charger and left it for hours as I was shopping and driving around continually trying to boot it to no avail. I found that there must be some kind of charging flaw that happens with a situation like this. When I got home I plugged it into the wall charger and still could not get it to charge or boot. I took the battery out and put it in my battery charger, not a phone charger. It then was able to charge the battery and then upon installing it back in the phone, booted the phone. All is well and the phone now will charge properly on all the devices. It must be there is a flaw in these phones when the batteries are extremely low.

I have the same problem, read on T-Mobile website that if you use the wrong charger it will cause this issue. I only had this phone for six weeks when it did the same thing. Never got it wet, did drop it a few times, but shoot, dropped my $150 walmart zte merit 100 times, even cracked the screen and left a dark spot when crawling in a window while it was in my pocked with my lighter, still works.

Did read on T-Mobile website, regarding the HTC incredible under their work, stating said if you use the wrong charger it will cause this issue. Did lose my charger and used one of those corner store $7.99 chargers when the problem began.

Anyways, it said to charge the phone using the charger manufactured for the phone.
Remove from charger than hold the volume up + volume down + power for 1-5 minutes until the light comes on. Let go and than power on, read the same instructions in xda devolopers as well.

Hate to spend money on a new charger if this isn't the problem, if anybody happens to have the right charger for their incredible 2, give it a try and let me know if it works? If it does, than i'll spend the $30 for the correct charger. Could get one for $10-$15 on amazon or ebay but a little afraid that it might not be the correct one.
