Updated[13.2.12] Discuss all Samsung Galaxy S III rumors/release date/speculation/news

At least my friends with iPhone4S around me know it has dual core A5 with blazing speed, iOS5 and excellent camera.

I for one wouldn't own an iPhone ever, but it is a good phone and great OS. I just don't care for the locked environment. However, the better the iPhone is, the better Android gets to compete. I say let the iPhone add quad core, hi-res displays, more memory, etc. It only makes Android based phones better.

I totally agree.

by the way guys...if I do end up right...let's just blame these guys...they posted

I know you are joking, Ed. But troubling part of your source's prediction is not that it's dual core but saying it's the same S3 dual snapdragon that's been powering Rezound, Amaze, LG Spectrum, and all variants of LTE SGSII from Fall last year. That would be insult to SGSIII name in my opinion.

At least that Engadget rumor mentions refreshed dual Exynos 4212 (that's still weak but way better than S3 snapdragon). The point is not dual vs quad for SGSIII. If it has dual A15 Exynos 5250, it would be even better than quad Exynos 4412.

Yeah i just dont know. He just said "refreshed s2 with some small design changes, not much on the hardware side and new marketing strategy"

That exynos is compatible with lte?

For all I know he could have seen 1.5 Ghz on the specs and assumed it was the same

Oh. maybe he just saw 1.5Ghz dual core processor in spec but didn't see "exynos 5250" part? Now I guess he doesn't have info on exact processor type. Or he noted only "dual core" part but overlooked "exynos 5250" or "S4" part, and just assumed wrongly it would be the same S3 snapdragon as in LTE SGSII. then it kind of makes sense to me.

I don't know why some of you are coming down on Ed. He is offering what insider information he can. A rumor is a rumor is a rumor, NOTHING IS OFFICIAL UNTIL LAUNCH, so get over it. If you don't like what you hear, then ignore it and wait for an official announcement from Samsung. Until then, we can't really confirm anything.

I am personally hoping for a faster processor (no preference between dual or quad core), a slightly larger screen, a longer lasting battery, and ICS. What i want most is a solid and nearby release date though.

So in the meantime, Ed, keep up the good work!

Sorry if my posts looked like that. I didn't mean to give any hard time to Ed. But just trying to interpret quite vague and misleading info that his source passed onto us. So it's not about Ed at all.

Ok, I will just be quiet here until official info comes out. Hopefully it won't be very long.

Hey, no worries. I wasn't trying to pin it down on anyone. Coming from xda, I've read through all the posts and understand the conflicting info between the media, "inside sources", and just pure speculation, and it's frustrating not knowing, for sure.

While I would like nothing more than to hear Ed say, "Just talked to my friend and the S3 will be available next month with a quad core 1080p display and come in 12 different colors!" I'm just happy to get some kind of rumor, even if it turns out to be false haha

Guess I'm just glad he has some news for us, and I don't want him to get frustrated and quit updating lol

Ed see if you can find out what MaH the battery has, that should be one of the least 'guarded' pieces of info on the S3 no?.

It is all guarded.

Thanks guys. I in no way take anything that has been said personally...and appreciate those that are sticking up for me :D

I do take great pride in trying to deliver what I can...and may seem defensive at times ...but in the end I understand!

And to clarify...I do see it as a possibility that there may have been some confusion concerning the processor. Its hard to clarify in a "I cant give you exact specs I might lose my job" situations.

My real hope is that I get called upon for testing soon...and that it is an S3 that I get.

I will of course be bound by confidentiality agreements...

Looks like HTC and LG will run the show at MWC with their quad Tegra3, dual S4 snapdragon phones. Anandtech benchmarks on S4 seems impressive and I guess Tegra3 will be as fast or better.

But I hope Sammy kicks their butt later with new Exynos chips and HD SAMOLED+. Especially dual Exynos 5250 based on cortex A15 will be giant leap forward on mobile AP, destroying everything else. Also I like to see 2nd gen 28nm integrated SoC 3G/4G chips that give smooth radio hand-over and more efficient on battery. And battery needs to be 2000+ mAh at least. The new SoC radio chip might not happen in SGSIII but new Exynos is a must I think.

I remember reading that the new Exynos 5250 probably won't be available in time for the S3. I can't find the exact article I read, but this one says that the 5250s could go into production in Q2 (at the earliest). Assuming a summer release of the S3, does that give enough time for production and launch?

I'm wondering if the new Exynos chip will support LTE.

I read that first Exynos in SGSII only supported up to 21Mbps speed so they decided to not use it for LTE phones last year. But the new ones like 4412, 5250 will support it. If not, Sammy will have big backlash on that. Qualcomm is also said to be developing new integrated 3G/4G radio chip that can work with non-Qualcomm ARM processors.

As for timeframe of exynos 5250, there are speculations that's a reason why they delayed SGSIII in time for 5250 production. But quad Exynos 4412 will also be more than enough to go against Tegra3 too.

This is all I can speculate on SGSIII. Nothing is official until it becomes official as usual.
