Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

So who is taking stock in the new jellybean roumers that it may be out this summer sometime???

When I read the articles on it I felt a little taken aback. Not because it is "too soon," but the fact that speculation was such that it would be tablet only, which makes almost no sense considering ICS is the marriage point of Android across the device types. Why would El Goog marry the device types through ICS' release, only to purposely fragment the OS (the fragmentation often discussed as Android's lacking point is not fragmentation due to purposeful action on the part of Google, IMHO, but that is another discussion)?

I read another take on Jelly Bean which made a little more sense and made no mention of tablet only.

FWIW, having a Nexus and the faith that Google wouldn't release it for just one device type, I am all for Jelly Bean ASAP! It is why I longed for and for a Nexus to begin with!

What do you all think...including the sickies ;)?

From what gather. Jelly Bean will be the next step towards running on a PC platform. So I am guessing Google is finally seeking the PC market.

Cough, cough.....;)

I would imagine that even if jelly bean contained only tablet specific enhancements it would still be the common codebase for phones and tablets. I'm sure it took a lot of work for Google to get their poop in a group:rolleyes: to merge the two that they would branch off now.

I'm with you, no way they release Jelly Bean as a tablet only after "unifying" Android between phone and tablet with ICS. Also, if it's out when they say it will be, then ICS won't have even made it to the majority of devices yet, so what was the point of ICS?

Now if ICS was a stepping stone to JB to unite tablets and phones and JB is the more permanent/refined solution with new features and it applies to both phone and tablet still, then I'm all for it. However, I thought I saw some saying it was going to be Android 5.0? I don't see that happening. 2.x was phones, 3.x was introduced for tablets, 4.x is introduced to combine the two. 5.0 would suggest a new device entirely. Jelly Bean, if applicable to phones and tablets, would more likely be 4.1 IMHO. Now, that's not to say that 5.0 isn't Jelly Bean and couldn't be for, say...Google TV?? Who knows.

My first multiquote, on Tapatalk no less!

There was talk of Jelly Bean having Chrome OS as a dual booting buddy, which lends itself to tablets making the jump to being serious netbooks (Transformer, eh?) Could this be its main reason for such an early, seemingly rushed debut? Remember when Google said ICS would have features that didn't make it to launch time? Chrome Browser just launched beta and now talk of Jelly Bean? Not surprised. And this my friends is why we rock THE BEST Android device until, presumably, the next Nexus rears its ugly head in the form of what could be the next great epic thread/a new phone release!

EDIT: I live in Cali, so it is just before 8p. Soon the baby will be in bed and daddy will be playing MC3 on his 51 inch via MHL!

Me too. This quitting drinking soda thing sucks...

One thing I'm now addicted to is our Soda Stream. I love just plain sparkling water, but their flavor syrups are solid too. They have a ton to choose from and you can also get some mixes elsewhere. Williams Sonoma sells a Manhattan drink mix (all natural) that's delicious in some sparkling water (booze optional ;)). Give it a shot; also a hell of a lot cheaper than buying cans of soda. :)

Good *COUGH* Morning Gnexers *COUGH*

Oh, no! Now it looks like I've got it! :(

I woke up at 4:30 this morning, my nose clogged up worse than a toilet on burrito night. Took some Alka-Seltzer Plus (aka Chief Repair Kit) and checked e-mail. Dang it, I have to meet the Congressman today and the Mayor tomorrow... I don't need to be snorting all over 'em!

I'd better double dose on Echinacea and try to shake this thing in a hurry. I don't have sick days... I'd have to call in dead :p

Anyway, I can sympathize with all you sick folks. I am now one of you.

*COUGH!*

Good morning Nexicans! Its nice to feel better today. Seems to be a solid 24 hour bug. I think that I was awake a whopping 8 hours between Sunday night at 9 and this morning at 7.

Hope your feeling better, I lost like 20 pounds in those 24 hours when I had it. Took me two weeks to get it back:(

feel better Chief!!

Oh no Chief! Hope you get well soon.

I searched around for some threads but couldn't find any: Has anyone used the Turbo Tax app for filing? I have 2 W2s and the only one deduction. Curious if it's any faster than just using Turbo Tax online. (also when I file online to TT, my bank pays for all the fees)

I think all the Turbo Tax products are pretty good. I would use the one where your bank pays the fees though.

I only lost 3. Now if I could just step away from the sweets for a while I'd keep it off. :p

As a retiree, what do I do? A lot of laundry :p

Actually, I'm County Coordinator for the 9-12 Project, and it will be in that capacity that I meet the Congressman. I'm also Commander of the local Disabled American Veterans chapter, and it will be in that capacity that I meet the Mayor.

Never a dull moment, that's for sure :)
