I'll be tempted for two reasons: One, it seems like the N1 is Google's baby and is going to get updated a lot more often. I rooted my Droid, but went back to stock after a bunch of FC's and headaches that didn't seem worth it. I'd like to have the updates sooner, rather than later. Secondly, I'm hoping that it's going to be GSM Quadband, so it'll have global phone capabilities; I don't go overseas a lot, but I do about once a year, and it would be nice to have my phone with me, instead of Airplane moding my Droid and setting up a 2nd with a calling card.

I could not be happier with my droid. Im running 2.1 with a custom rom running at 1.25 and have next to zero force closes. The droid continues to be getting better and still has room to continue to grow. This being said I have 4 lines on my family share plan and I am almost always eligible for an upgrade. If the nexus 1 can be used outside the united states I will definately be getting a N1 but not to replace my droid. The droid is the best phone I have ever owned.

You guys hit the nail on the head. I am a bit of a gadget freak and like to be on top of the game. I love the Droid but I don't use the slide out keyboard like I thought I would and its kind of a PITA when it slides open in my pocket. I like the fact that the N1 is thin and seems to be getting all of the updates. Of coarse if I bought one they would immediately come out with the next Google phone with 3.0 and never update the N1 again.

I will be. I like everything about the droid except for the keyboard. I never wanted one, but there wasn't a way to get all the things the droid had without the keyboard. It's what I love about google's choice of offering their operating system on many different phones. People have different needs and taste. For me, it's not about going to the latest and greatest, its just getting the phone I really wanted in the first place. I'm sticking with google though, thats for sure.

Since it's basically the new official google dev phone, and cyanogen is backing it ... I would think about it. But i want a real keyboard. I'm not afraid of my droid dying in a year due to overlocking and the like though because if my Droid so happened to die .. I'd be forced to upgrade =p

This may or may not be a good idea on my part, but I pay for the insurance. Phone dies.. OK.. gimme new droid. No droids left? hmm.. K.. well.. then I guess you have to give me a comparable replacement. Either way, I'm not out of pocket $500.00 for a new phone. I figure the ~$8/month * 12 = $96/year vs. $500+ to buy a new phone out right isn't so bad. Additionally, if I chipped the phone's finish or lost it or whatever I can still get it replaced.

Personally I wanted the Nexus One but wasn't sure if the keyboard would be handy and I didn't want to play the guessing game as to when the Nexus One would be available, etc. Since I've had my Droid for something like a week, I might be able to return it before the end of 30 days, and then get the Nexus One. Not sure. Likewise, the Nexus One might cost me more than the $150.00 I paid for the Droid. Then 3.. 6.. 9 months later, another Google phone will be released anyways which I may or may not want. <shrug> Probably best not to waste too much time or energy on this. =D

i just can't see updating to the N1. The differences just don't seem worth the cost and fees. I just got the Droid 3 months ago so an upgrade would cost me the full price plus whatever I lose in the sale of the Droid. I just don't think it is worth that much $$$. The Droid is a pretty good phone, and to say the N1 is google's baby, well, there haven't been any updates beyond 2.1 to even be able to say that it will get updated any more often then the droid or any other phone. I know it makes sense that it would, but something making sense isn't enough to motivate $ out of my pocket.

I am extremely satisfied with my Droid. I have the processor running at the same speed as the N1, and after playing around with some rooting, I decided to do a clean install of DroidMod and it runs amazing! I also am quite fond of having a keyboard after coming from the iPhone. I'll stick with the Droid.

Not looking to change. I have the docks for the Droid, which would become useless if I switched. Plus it hasn't been a year, so I can't switch without paying out the yin-yang.

I do, however, have a friend who busted up his iPhone and is no longer under contract with AT&T whom I've pointed at the N1 (on Verizon). Since it's probably coming very soon, he's probably going to check it out.

Now where does it say that Verizon will be getting the N1? I only heard spring. Since I got my droid Nov 12 09 I havent paid close attention to the Verizon page.
I rarely use the slide out keyboard and use a case. But I can see how sliding open in your pocket would be a pain.

I cant find anything that says the 23rd is a release date. I am curious as to were the OP found that information. Googles website just says soon.

I will not be switching to the N1 because I like my droid and like having a keyboard but even if I did want to switch I am not about to drop $500 or more on a phone that is only slightly faster if that.
