Help Picture Messages

My phone refuses to receive or send picture messages. I can get video messages, just no picture messages. It has a Download button and refuses to download. I tried clearing all data from Handcent and default Text Messaging through the application area, and that didn't work either. I've read that a factory reset would fix it, but I'd rather not do that as I have a buttload of apps installed. Is there any other fix for this?

Three things: is this happening with WiFi active? If so, what happens if you turn off WiFi and then try to download messages?

Have you called Verizon Wireless tech support to see if there is something on their end that can be reset to fix this?

Last thing: have you tried downloading the Verizon Messages app? I've seem this with rooted VZW phones - MMS doesn't work, but if you install VZW Messages, it fixes MMS problems - so that you can even delete the app and standard stock messaging continues to work. It's worth a shot before you factory reset.

Verizon Messages seemed to have worked. I did get one picture that still refuses to download, but one out of twenty today (New niece born yesterday) are good odds. I might just go to the store and see what they can do. It's not worth the hassle of staying on the phone when the store should be able to help. Thanks for the info.

The store will likely hand you the phone and say call tech support.

Yep. I called the tech support folks first and they had it all set up for me when I walked in the store and my account was pulled up. I'd recommend calling tech support first to get it documented properly FIRST and then go to the store. Tech support has a lot more clout than the store.
