Root My Samsung Galaxy Player 5 is rooted using SuperOneClick 2.2

i've read so many threads and tried so many different versions of superoneclick and others, i dont have the strength to try another :( just looking at that thread just made me tired again. honestly it's not just one click. I want to root but.....

Very little in that thread had to do with rooting or using SuperOneClick. You of course have to have the right USB drivers. There were questions being asked by people who didn't have much experience and I had problems for a couple of days because I couldn't connect to the servers to download SuperOneClick, but that cleared up. Once I got the correct version of SuperOneClick, I posted one sentence confirming that the instructions in the first post worked perfectly except I had to reboot my Player afterwards.

You are right, there are a few things to think about in setting up, but the root *is* one click.

I'm not trying to push you into something you are not comfortable with and it may be that rooting doesn't do enough for you to motivate you. I'm just saying it is doable if you really want to. :)

Just rooted SGP5;

[APP]SuperOneClick v2.3.3 - Motorola Exploit Added! - https://www.google.com/url?q=http:/...ds-cse&usg=AFQjCNEM2WkdiM8wmfa8Tr9rHCUnVKKRVQ

FYI, the SGP 5.0 runs 8GB & I stuck in a 8GB mSD card.
Had installed GV/IP Groove and the PhonePower android app. GV sounds great and would say that is a good way to go. Had problems w/ connections and jitter on the new PhonePower app, but need that one to work to integrate w/existing carrier but it works after rooting.

So ok, dumb question: what is the point of rooting? Why would someone want to root their android device? I own a Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 btw.

Not a dumb question and, for many, there is no reason too. It basically provides you with administrator control over your device. My most common usage for rooting is keeping backups of apps and data (using Titanium Backup or by manually backing up apks) as insurance against a bad update with undesired changes. Doesn't come up that often, but when it does it is greatly appreciated. Also I manage to screw up my data, I can restore the last good set of data.

I also like to have administrator privileges for my file manager, which means i can manipulate files anywhere. And yes, Ian elect to do something that will brick my device (like mistakenly delete a system file), but I never have. Still, I will fight for my right to do so. ;)
