3g boost that really works.

I just switched from the Optimus m sadly a few days ago to the Samsung admire. I came across a this topic in the forum. Android Phones > Samsung Admire > Admire - All Things Root how to boost 3g in stock 2.3.4 I followed the instructions which the op posted and now my 3g speeds went from 200kbps to 1.52 mbps. Why did I post this in here you ask? Because while reading the comments a few people said they tried on there Optimus m and it worked. It basically consist of you changing your setting in qpst. Check out that thread read the comments and try it out. The op has clear detailed instructions. I gave my Optimus to my mom but I'm going to try it on there when I see her. I just rooted my admire and don't have a custom romantic yet with built in screen shot so I will add screen shots of my speed test soon as I download a screen shot app. Hope this helps. I don't even use wifi anymore. My speeds are faster than my wifi :D updated.

just did it a bit ago using qpst, my speeds are better but the difference is not that much.

Here are my results in Miami, FL by Kendale Lakes.

The bottom two are before changing anything
The two in the middle are the speeds from my wifi, did it just to compare.
The top two are after changing to Simple IP only.

Better than nothing I guess. I can confirm it works on our phones, Im rooted on Reppards CM7.1 Rom, PRL 3026.
And Im on Windows x64, did nothing special everything works with the instructions given on the thread.

Quick question. Do you have to be at version 2.3.4 for this to work? I have been rooted all along, but I am happy to stay at version 2.2 and really do not have a desire for a custom ROM. If this is the only way then I might though. I am picking up a 3G sometimes in the Cape Coral area (above Ft. Myers), but when I do it actually decreases my performance.

By performance do you mean that internet speeds decreased? If that's the case, are you on PRL 3026??? Also if you are connected to 1x it will decrease performance slightly.
If by performance you mean that the phone itself slows down, then why not upgrade to stock 2.2.2 and root again?? I know that stock 2.2.1 is a bit laggy and 2.2.2 is very stable. Idk about 2.2
And it should work whether your on stock or custom ROM

I get almost constant 3G unless I'm out in Lehigh, then it's spotty. I was in the cape last month and got spotty 3G too... My phone is rooted at 2.2.2 and it worked just fine, before doing this boost it did decrease performance just a bit.

I downgraded my Prl to 3025 and then i re did the same steps to configure Simple IP, and I wrote to phone..what i didnt do is select one of the two Lines showing in the list when i selected simple IP and wrote to phone. Do i need to highlite one of those lines? im guessing not because it seems that everything worked fine and I actually do get better speeds now but im going to uprade to 3026 prl to see if i get better speeds on that. right now im getting 15kps down and 21 up varrying on 1x ..still no 3g here, the symbol keeps coming and going from 3g to 1x, but my 1x speeds have definately picked up from about 6-8 kp down and 11 up. one more step to possibly changing my ROM... not that brave yet tho.

I just tested in So Cal, everything worked great.. had crappy speeds with both 3024 prl and 3026..both with S-IP once i switched to 3025 prl with simple IP, I was getting 16kb down compared to 8kb and 21 up compared to 12 so thanks it definatley helps being able to test each prl, when i did go through a 3g area i tested at 28kb down and 38kb up. so Thanks.. it worked thanks.

I am on 3026. By performance, I mean that when I get a 3G signal in Cape Coral my data connection goes almost completely dead. It works better in Ft. Myers, but I don't go there very often.
