Root [1st Gen] Questions About Potential Bricking

Hello,
I just have some questions about what to do if theres a problem before I root my KF. For example, I know on jailbroken iOS devices, a restore in iTunes fixes the problem so is there a process similar to the restore that fixes any problems? Also, what methods do you use to fix bricking? I've seen on other forums posts on how to fix bricking etc. but it was usually by installing the KF utility (which you can't access if the device gets stuck in a boot loop right?) And my last question, does anyone know if there is a "success rate" per se? like 9 times out of 10, the root works etc.? Thanks for any help, this forum is awesome

I am fairly new to this device but am familiar with rooting other devices. I just rooted 2 of these in about an hour over the weekend and it was very simple. My suggestion would be to read as much information as you can and make sure you understand the instructions before you attempt to root a Kindle or any other device for that matter. This WILL void the warranty on most devices so keep that in mind. "Bricking" can happen but there is usually(not always) a way to get it back to functional. If you follow the instructions, you should have no problem getting your device rooted. Make sure you install recovery so that you can flash a stock rom or restore to a backup if you do have issues. It is included in the Kindle Utility.
