Help How do i identify a factory unlocked milestone ????

Hi,

I am planning to buy a factory unlocked milestone in India and use it on a gsm network .(vodafone India)

My question is that the how do know if its a factory unlocked milestone and not unlocked version from a european/canadian carrier( like a jailbroken iphone ).

Most dealers here sell it without a box so checking the box is not an option and most stores will not allow me to use it before buying .

So based on the external physical appearance how can i tell if its a factory unlocked milestone ?

Are there any physical differences between a droid and a milestone ?:):thinking::thinking:

What? Every Milestone sold in Canada is locked to Telus. I've unlocked two of them so far.

Yeah, but if its available for sale "now", and "prior to now", in India, its most likely not a Telus branded Milestone. There were some German carriers also offering the Milestone, for like 1 Euro, or free...not sure about the branding/locking however.

All Milestones are factory locked..... The Milestone uses an unlock code so once you unlock it it is permanent not like the iphone software unlock.

The Droid can have custom roms with cool features the milestone cannot. That is the only difference.

You are talking abou a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT thing.

The OP meant SIMLOCK and not ROM.

My first sentence refereed to simlock. The motorola Milestone is not sold directly to consumers unlocked. Re read my post before making judgments. I said " All Milestones are factory locked..... It is not like the iphone with a software lock you need an unlock code and it is permanent "

Second sentence was referring to the differences between droid and milestone

You are wrong again, Motorola Milestone is sold to customers without any contracts at all which means it comes factory unlocked.

Not factory unlocked. This is a resaler who bought the phones and used unlock codes to unlock them. The nexus one is an example of a factory unlocked phone. As is the the nokia n900 or n97

seriously,.

i have yet to hear of a sim locked milestone. they don't exist to my knowledge.

Canadian Milestone asks for an unlock code if you stick in a sim card other then telus.

Germany Milestone from O2 asks for an unlock code if you stick in a sim card other then theirs.

90% of phones have a sim lock. Its the odd few like the Nexus one, Nokia N900, Nokia N95 that are sold directly to consumers not from carriers without a sim lock

In the UK carriers do not put simlocks on phones sold with contracts!!!
