I just installed the 2.1 Droid Music Player on my Eris!

Its so beast, I had to set all the defaults on the player to the new one but after that it was all good I love it. The only downside is not having the ringtone trimmer from the default player but if I have to make a new ringtone I can just use that from the default.

*Edit* It works in landscape too!

Ringdroid will allow you to make your own ring tones.

Its not on the market because its the default Music player that comes with the Moto Droid and the Nexus One I think? I just typed in 2.1 music player apk in google and found the right thread with the link. You can pm me your email if you'd like tho and I could send it to you.

Meh, there is no fullscreen widget, only a 1/3 sized bar that takes you right back to the default 1.5 player anyways... this is strange...

Anyone find a good fullscreen widget that interfaces with the 2.1 player? Otherwise this is pointless. Just some tabs and lose all the coolness of the HTC widgets.

No I didn't lose the HTC widgets I'm running the 2.1 player with sense still going. I know that the pure widget app is supposed to be updated soon with a full screen widget.

Hmm didn't type that as clearly as I liked... I didn't lose the stock HTC widgets, but when I place one on my home screen, it opens the old player instead of the new one... when opening playlists or tracks, it will prompt me with the app select popup to choose which player I want to use, but the HTC widgets only seem to work with the old player... My main use of the player is from a home screen widget and the new 2.1 player only has a single small row-style widget, no artwork and it seems very incomplete compared to the HTC Music app. Just some observations.. I was hoping for more features and smoother operation, not just some new tabs and a crippled widget!

Oh okay I got ya now. Yea that kind of does seem to be a drawback, it just depends on what your preference is. I kinda like the way the 2.1 player looks compared to the 1.5 but the full widget would have been nice. Good point

After you download the apk file you have to drag it to your sd card. Then after that you should use astro to click on the file and open it using app manager and install it.

I tried the 2.1 launcher on my Eris. Total fail. Got a force close dialog box over and over and over. Wouldn't stay closed. I had to do a battery pull..
