What's a worthy replacement?

2 months ago but keeping hold of my Desire for a while.

If I got a new phone now it wouldn't do any more than this can so not in any rush to change.

I'm having issues on what provider to use as went from Vodafone to giffgaff but have found that you pay peanuts you really do get monkeys cos giffgaff are appalling!

In what respect? If it's just the customer service I may get over that. If the network in itself is terrible... May be not.

I've found them ok. Site has been a bit flaky at times but network has stood up. It's definitely changed the game for me and I won't be going back on contract for the foreseeable future. One thing's for sure, I won't be going back to Vodafone after the nightmares I had with them.

This is just a personal experience as I know others are getting on fine with giffgaff.

My main issue is that I keep losing my connection to the Google servers ie my signal icons keep turning white. Have checked all apn settings and not that. Tried a different ROM, kernal radio etc and not that. Unrooted back to stock and not that.

Have posted on the forum and got about 100 replies telling me to do what I already stated I'd tried in my OP. Sent numerous messages to giffgaff and not received one reply.

Personally think it must be down to the area I live but it is strange because I'm getting a good strong constant H signal. Also ordered a new SIM and doing same on that one.

To top off my giffgaff experience it took me 5 days to top up a goodybag because the site was having issues. From reading the forum seems like this is a common issue.

As I said this maybe just me having a bad experience but not having a good time :)

Rumour mill running overtime again for the SGS 3.

Claimed Samsung Galaxy S3 picture hints at March 22nd release | T3

4.8" Screen even bigger than the Xperia S.
As for the Xperia S, i have had a bit of a play with the other half's.
Screen is clear and responsive. Apps download very quickly from the market, though this could be because there was nowt on it.
Battery life seems pretty good. Still about 70% at the end of the day, though she doesnt really sync with anything so not a real test.
Hope to have a better play at the weekend.

Try an o2 payg sim. If it does the same, its network and most likely, geographic

wtf? It's supposed to be a phone not a mini tablet. The Desire is a good size, I'm really not getting this whole 'mines bigger than yours' thing.

One thing the iPhone has right, if you ask me.

I am somewhat in agreeance with this. I think the HTC Desire has a perfectly good size screen as I have sausage fingers and I can use it with one hand, but not without difficulty at times. I feel I may be hindered by bigger plus I often think about night outs etc.
However, saying that, I do like big screens especially when they are bright and vibrant. I don't think I'd like a screen bigger than the Galaxy Nexus (4.65" I believe). Each to their own I guess.

Well definitely cant stay on O2 as they cannot give more than 1GB per month. After 1GB it reduces to 64-100kbps.

Cant go to CPW as they've got jack in the way of handsets. They dont even have the ones I don't think I want.

Giff Gaff would mean sticking with my current handset and never being able to afford a top of the line handset (which I NEED)...

:(

I looked on buymobilesonline.Com
Found my xperia s for 26 p/m then put my details into the p4u site regarding an upgrade.
Received a call the next day from a great chap called Geoff.

He could only offer me 28.50p/m as stated on their site.
When I told him I could get it for 26 p/m things changed.

The original contract for 26 was something like 750mb net, 200 minutes and unlimited texts, which is actually 3000.
He put me on hold, came back a minute later and said "i can't beat the 26p/m, but I can get you 600 min, 1gb of net and unlimited texts for 28.50."
Well, told him I don't need all that extra so I'll go get it online.
After been on hold for another moment he said, well, I can't change that offer, but I can give you a cheque for a couple of pounds i think it was. (the 2.50 id be paying extra by using p4u by 24 months)

Worked out ok to me, getting more and paying less.
+ 50 pounds for referring my girlfriend too.
Not bad.

Saw some reasonable xperia s deals on 3. All I can eat data. Just concerned about the credit check as I missed a lot of payments when I went.from weekly to.monthly pay...

I wouldn't commit myself to 3 personally.. Everytime I hear people talk about it, it's always negative. Just puts me off.

Saying that, I heard pretty naff things about T-Mobile and I would happily recommend them. Weird, eh? And I only went for T-Mobile due to the 3Gb allowance (600 minuts and 500 texts (unlimited with my "flexible booster")) for

Have you looked at mobiles.co.uk? I got my Desire through them, and was happy with the deal. It also came unlocked (no carrier bloat) so it got OTA updates quickly. Pretty sure you will root it anyway though!

Did one of the redemption deals where you send in a copy of your bill. Just set up the reminders on google calender, downloaded the appropriate bill and emailed it in at the right time. Got cheques back no issue.

They have the Xperia S on multiple deals and networks. Using the 3 network as an example, they have it

The signal map looks good but I too don't know.anyone on 3 and would need to find one.first

33 on 3, unlimited data, 500 minutes. 28 with 100 minutes which is probably all I need but paying 100 for handset only save 20 over 2 yrs.

O2 looks good round my area, but actually it is pretty naff, usually 2 or 3 signal bars even though the map is listed as excellent.
