HTC sabotaged the Nexus One

With the HTC Desire, Legend, and Increditable coming out and HTC knowing the game plan of Google with their restrictive plans and dumb way to selling tactic. I believe that HTC made the Nexus One ineffective with issues so that we would wait to get their other phones because TMO, Sprint, Verizon, and At&t makes their phones more available. My case and point what other HTC phone has had the issues that the N1 has had? From the 3g to the newest multi touch issue. I want a N1 but I am happy with waiting for the Desire. What do you all think?

What do you all think?

Sorry - not seen any of the issues.

Had my Nexus imported 2 weeks ago, multitouch update installed straight away.
Based on previous phones (iPhone 3G, G1, Magic, Palm Pre) I made the decision that Android was the OS for me. With the Nexus One, I've finally got the hardware I've been waiting for :D

There are always issues with any new device / software. Google have shown their commitment to moving Android forward and once this year's patent wars are settled (and I'm confident they will be) I look forward to future developments.

I don't see it. Why would they risk their close relationship with Google when they're integrating Android into many of their products?

Because Google selling stratogey on selling this. TMO 500 min plan ONLY. I'm on a family plan w/ best deal and full upgrade and I have to buy it for 529. How many ppl are on family plans or need more than 500 mins a month wanted to get a N1. How many phones did they think they would actually sell?

Let's say the HTC Desire is released tomorrow on TMO for 199, HTC would sell more Desires in one day then N1 has since it's come out. Do you not agree that the sales of the Desire would be through the roof because it's easier to get? HTC knew that google was dropping the ball so they did so as well.

I'll admit that they probably should have had a better deal or gave you the option to upgrade and keep your current plan but it is what it is. I ended up having to buy mine out right so that I could keep my plan. I don't doubt that they will probably sell more Desires since they will probably end up being cheaper with a contract but I am sure there will be issues with each one of those phones on release day because that's just the way that it is.

I don't see it, and I'd say more. I'll wait until the HTC Desire arrives to see new threads pop (mushroom-like) complaining about cracked screens, HTC's customer service and not getting the latest Android firmware version as fast as the Nexus One.
I say each to their own, with their pros and cons, but not sabotage at all...or Google will start to sabotage HTC's android firmwares :p

Perhaps Google wanted to keep the Nexus One in a niche? The whole google.com/phone sales model is completely new and comes across to me as more of an experiment at the moment more than anything.quote]

Niche? Then they wouldn't be releasing on all carriers. The thing is HTC wouldn't come right out and say we did this. With my G1 and Mytouch I've never had any issues nor have I read of any issues, besides battery issues.

there isn't a single smart phone out there (HTC, Apple, Moto, Nokia, Samsung etc..) that doesn't have a forum full of people complaining about something or other. Some people have issues, some people don't. But it's the people that have issues that are more likely to be vocal about it. The OP doesn't even have a N1 so this conspiracy theory is purely based on conjecture and not actual experience.

Also, the main benefit of the N1 and Google's selling strategy is to take control of the OS out of the hands of the carriers and manufacturers. The price of this benefit is that you have less carrier support than if you bought a phone straight from the carrier and i really doubt Google is the one that dictates how T-Mobile's family plan should be applied.

I wish there was a button that was the opposite of a thank. I find your post so stupid that I am actually offended. For your sake, I hope you're trolling. If you were actually dumb enough to believe what you wrote, you should be put down.

Increditable... nice name :)
I don't know what issues the Nexus has or why is it ineffective... first android with Amoled + Multitouch + 2.1 .... what issues? Please be more specific.
Thanks.

It's been discussed before. This is an experimrent by Google. Never designed to sell millions. But we are beta testers in effect, the N1 will be a platform to test software updates and other ideas. This means that for the next year or so the N1 will be at the forefront of everything Android. This is proven by the fact it is the only official 2.1 phone, and has been given features such as Gesture and Google Earth...

Totally unlikely, and in fact probably impossible. For them to do that it would take an orgistrated effort within HTC which if leaked could cost them millions, not to mention no one ever working with them again.

HTC made enough changes to the desire not to jeapordise the N1 - particularly in the US since it has no 1700 band. The Desire is where HTC will make alot of money because it will be carried by alot of european networks and subsidised more than the N1 can be.

I really dont think Google are that interested in hardware, but had to release the N1 to get the same push as the iphone had with apple backing.

In any case there will be no case for HTC not to fix the same bugs in the N1 and Desire, so a startegy as you suggest is totally pointless and counter productive for HTC.

Sounds like internet FUD to me :p

Just my opinion.

Apparently the screen is prone to cracking and dust getting under it. More importantly the touch screen sensor is inferior to others in its class: axis-flipping and irregular dual touch recognitions.

I find your response just as or more stupid than my post. I thought this was a discussion forum; you seem to be the only one who doesn't comprehend this. Sorry I didn't post about my battery issue or what cool new rom to download but worry not I will make a new thread called "Generic Nexus One Thread" just for you. I will include my top 5 things I like about the N1 and then talk about how much more awesome the N1 is than the iphone. This will TOTALLY make you happy. Then you and me can hold hands and skip together down the road into obscurity! hurray! :)

You obviously haven't read the latest news then....another screen test app does not show this supposed "fault" in the N1 screen vs the Droid. They perform exactly the same.

IMHO, you can write a software app to do/show anything! Think its a red herring as do you really think that HTC would produce something with such an obvious defect that wouldn't been shown up in the pre-production testing process

Dust under screen might be a problem for some (not sure if the warranty works for that) but definitely screen cracks is not.
I think the % of n1s with a screen crack is the same as any other phone.
I think you didn't get my message well. I was talking sarcastically about the screen cracks, as I've already said on other threads that dropping the phone and get your screen cracked doesn't seem to be a design flaw to me.

btw, there are some news about it at Engadget

i was getting really worried about this issue because the HTC Desire, my next phone, will supposedly have this same issue. But if you're right then i'll be pleased.

Can the link to where u read this? Dont see it anywhere..
