Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

BTW got my Capta in yesterday and this thing is amazing. It's much smaller than I thought it would be, BUT it works so well that I trusted my GNex upside down on the gorilla pod dangling over my kitchen floor. Check out some pictures below!

Very cool Stigy, you may have pushed me over the edge to get one! Great pics, waht did you shoot them with?

I have been through a few, lived in central Florida for 14 years. But except for hurricane Erin all of them were in 2004. Charley, Frances, and Jeanne. I rode out the storm at my parents house, which was spared completely from any serious affects, but the combination of roof damage from Charley, and rain from Frances and Jeanne, caused enough water to build up in the insulation in my apartment that the ceiling collapsed. Took 6 weeks to get the ceiling fixed too, as contractors were in such high demand.

Anyone with fun hurricane memories?
Guess my only one was when Bob hit MA in 91. I was still young but I remember my dad wanting to take all us kids out in the neighborhood to see the damage. My mom was furious with him since there was so much destruction. We lost power for the week and drove to my grandparents house in upstate NY. Fun times. He told me stories about Gloria in the 80s, but I was still an infant at the time.

I remember Bob. I also remember Bertha. We had a huge cookout with 100+ family and friends. We had a 100' X 50' tarp up as a makeshift tent. Every time the wind blew and the tarp inflated everyone should shout "whoooooaaaaahh" until it came back down. Doesn't sound as funny in print though.

I'm also a storm watcher. I sat outside in my shed this past fall when Irene came through. Though that may have had more to to with a wife and three kids in the house with no power and a cooler full of beer in the shed.;):D

I have the 70-200 f/4L IS - went for that instead of the 2.8-nonIS. Photography is one of my favorite hobbies though. I'm glad I always have my car as a model for me to shoot though - super fun and gets my creative juices flowing.

Ugh, I was a huge photo buff in high school. Love spending some time in the dark room. Haven't shot much lately. I have a humble Cannon G10. Can't toss out the coin for a solid dSLR but would love to some day. Love those shots by the way.

Do what I did in regards to the dSLR thing. Go for an older, well taken care of semi-pro model like the 30D/40D/50D series. The sensors on those are much better than the Rebel series, the construction of the body is much sturdier, and the shutter is rated for more actuations...a lot more. You get a much better camera for half the price of a new Rebel.

I've got a Canon 30D for sale if anyone is interested in getting started in photography. Just a step below the 5D but a step above the Rebel series.

BTW...Only asking $250 for my 30D. Have a nice walkaround lens I'd be willing to part with if someone wants a starter kit. 3 batteries and charger, 2 CF cards (2GB), and the neck strap.

Ran accross a great deal on my 70-200 f/2.8L non-IS that I couldn't pass up. For what I do I can stand not having IS if I have that 2.8, plus I like having that extra DOF. Photography has been a hobby of mine and my wife's ever since we met :) Fun activity to share.

I wish Smash was cancelled. Oh how I wish it.
I'll be frank in that I've never seen it. And, I never will. Simply looking forward to Community coming back :D

Man, I'm trying to keep my "frivolous" expenditures down! After getting my Prime, I've told myself I can't buy anything big for a while. :(

I have a T2i, love it, Lens' are all Canon, My favorite lens is what has kept me in the Rebel series when I have upgraded my base. It is the only EF-S lens I have, but I love it and bought it for doing wide angle shots that are not distorted. It is near L quality, Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM SLR. Also have a 28-135mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS UM I use for a walk around and a 70-300 4-5.6 IS UM. Upgraded to the T2i, a couple of years ago , gotta say it is a great camera, very fast, great in low light, processor is much better than its predecessor. Not the 5D, but an exceptional camera.

Haha, I understand. I have to scrape up and find things to sell in order to buy things I want. Hence the sell of the 30D, lens, and a few other items around the house we don't use. Trying to scrape up enough for a 60D.

That 10-22 will be my next lens purchase. LOVE that lens. The 28-135 is what I'm selling with my 30D. Few better lenses for walking around. Very fast and quiet focus and a pretty good zoom range.

It is an excellent lens particularly for when you need wide and no distortion. I can stand in the door of an average bedroom and shoot the entire room maintaining perspective. Wow, I just looked on amazon and this lens is $300 more than I paid for it several years ago! The price has gone up?

I put my old body with a kit lens (Rebel XT) on Craigslist and sold it in three days for $375 (with boxes and manuals etc). That is a great price for the 30D, would make a great buy for someone.
