There is a hack for modifying "/system/build.prop" file to make Android use T-Mobile's HSXPA protocol to improve 3G speed greatly, here is the original thread: Easy way how to improve 3G(2G) troughput - xda-developers

This hack is for G1,but maybe someone with more skill can make it work on Behold 2.I have already tried it on my BH2,speed increased but i have to do more testing to be sure, there are minor differences in G1 and BH2 "build.prop" file, original BH2 file doesn't contain "ro.ril.hsxpa=1" and "ro.ril.gprsclass=10"
lines to modify so i have added them myself, maybe BH2 contains those two lines in another file, cold someone look into this, because my 3g speed can be as low as 5kbs and never over 50kbs- that's laughable,my 2G speed on ATT with Iphone was 80kbs,i think BH2 on T-Mobile is capable of much greater speed but its not set up right, this is my first thread so sorry for any mistakes.

Actually on 3g this phone is superfast. Here is a screenshot of the speed... download Speedtest by ookla from the Market to test. As you can see I am maxing out the 3g speed. This phone might have lots of bugs, but 3g is not one of them.

In the screenshots you will see me maxing out UMTS and proof that I was connected to UMTS rather than the HSPDA network.

For comparison here is a speedtest with the phone forced on EDGE network:

Switched to Android data plan-speed is the same as it was before,i know 3G speed gotta be faster than that, att 2G is faster than my tmobile 3G,my reception is 4 bars-the highest

Signal strength isn't directly correlated to speed. Speed is dependant on the tower's capabilities and its back haul. You may be in an area with an old tower, you should speak to TMO and let them know, they may not know that something is wrong.

In New Orleans. (Local test server is in Atlanta)

After running five tests, here's the results:
DOWN UP
664 478
573 425
601 323
3049 186 (WTF?!?)
2717 398

I'm guessing on the last two that either A: Cached data is throwin off the result, or B: The phone/service went into a "download burst" mode.

I killed the app (ATK), waited one minute, and then ran one last test:

DOWN UP
2125 399
