i just tried it and its working for me. be ware that its not taking you to a site with another link,when you click it your download should start. possible you ahve a firewall or anti-virus stopping it?

This is where I'm getting kinda confused because... I'm still not sure which directory is the phone's "real" root folder. Before, I thought it was the /mnt/sdcard :'(

edit: Just more clarification. I was able to get root access (according to all the root-only apps + that root checker app). So now all I want to do is do a nandroid backup (via Amon Ra - followed this guide to a T via the TEMP Recovery method) but for some reason I can't go into the Recovery mode. I'm getting the hboot screen, just that I get stuck/hung up on the screen with that red exclamation point. So... I'm starting the process from step 2). Figured it could be me putting that Superuser-3.0.7-efgh-signed.zip in the wrong place/folder.

remember,you did not permanently write a recovery,so when you select "recovery" from the hboot menu,it is taking you to the stock recovery,wich is the ! triangle screen.

you will need to go to fastboot (not hboot) and fastboot boot <recoveryname>.img every time you want to use recovery. its a couple extra steps from a booting to a permanent recovery,but is a good habit to get into IMO,as launching recovery in this manner will let you restore backups without a seperate kernel flash.

last and not least...
a neat trick for keeping track of your sd card,is to figure out which it is(put it in a card reader is a surefire way) ans create a folder named "aaa SD card" or somethin to that affect... it should always be the first folder on your sd card,and make it pretty obvious that youre in the right place(thanks iowabowtech for that tip )

Thanks again SO MUCH, scotty! That bit about going into fastboot instead of hboot is why I'm stuck on that red triangle thingy lol. I did a recovery via your guide starting from step 2 (Temp. recovery).

& will definitely do the "aaa SD card" thing ASAP. That's gonna help BIG TIME.

Hi, I'm having a small issues unrooting. I relocked my boot loader and installed the current RUU following the steps in this post. The RUU installs fine and there absolutely no problem with that. The problem is that now the recovery seems to be missing. I had Amon Ra 3.14 prior to unrooting. Now when I try to enter recovery it does not appear that the Stock Recovery installed. I get an image of a Phone with a Red Triangle and Exclamation Point. I've reinstalled the RUU two times and both times i get the same issue.

Any ideas of what went wrong? I also have not been able to find a stock recovery to try to flash it to the phone.

doesnt sound like anything went wrong... looks like everything went completely right

the purpose of the "mini RUU" and the factory,signed RUU are to put things back to stock,with exception of hboot being relocked instead of just locked. as such,it is overwriting every partition with a stock one,including recovery.

the red triangle,! and little phone pic are,in fact,the stock recovery. re-installing the RUU again wont re-install amon,you will need to re-unlock and either temporarily boot amon,or permanently flash it if you want it back.

if your goal is to be stock,with the stock recovery,youve achieved it. no further actions are needed. hope that clears it up for you

Thanks for the quick reply Scotty. I was thinking that the stock recovery had some sort of UI and that i would be able to tell that its there. Don't think i every looked at it before i was rooted.

the stock recovery does have a little bit of UI. if you hold vol up and power on the triangle screen,a small menu should pop up. it cannot be used to flash custom roms or full RUUs,only signed-by-htc updates.

basically with the stock recovery you can:
-reboot
-wipe data/fastory reset
-wipe cache
-apply update.zip from sd card

thats it.

I'm preparing right now as I think I will take advantage of the $50 special going on right now for the Rezound. Any advise... Take ICS OTA first then root or do one of the others roms.

i hate this whole file sharing business. its been a huge PITA since multiupload disapeared

uploading to 4 shared,well see how that works

on the rooting,it doesnt matter wether you take the OTA or not to htcdev. but an s-off method may be popping up soon,so if thats something you have interest in,may want to hold off on the OTA until some things are confirmed

in a nutshell: s-off=security off,and unlocks all partitions of your phone,not just the boot,system,and recovery that htcdev unlocks.

it means you can change splash screens,bootloaders,and radios at will,as well as flashing older official htc software. its also considerably easier to flash roms from a permanently installed recovery without a PC.

the downside is,you must use extra caution when flashing,as flashing a bad radio or bootloader WILL brick your phone beyond fixing. htcdev,while it has limitations,does allow alot of user error,as the bootloader and radio are protected from accidental,or intentional flashing. its more or less imposible to "brick" a S-ON rezound with beyond repair,with software flashing since only boot,system,and recovery are accssible via htcdev unlocked s on hboot

I'm really new, so bear with me. I followed the directions above to root my HTC Rezound (all 3 steps, including Flash Superuser Root files). Everything went fine and I was able to root (thanks Scotty for the great directions). Now my Mobile Network (3G/4G) is not working at all. Took me a few days to even notice since I've been on Wifi for days.

Any suggestions on how to get out of this problem? I have NOT flashed any custom ROMS (I just needed to root to install an application that needs root).

I tried the "normal" stuff (take out battery, take out Sim card)... nothing worked. I also called Verizon and they tried the majic from their end.

Please advise... I'm sick of carrying around my wireless access point just to be able to text and get to the internet.

Yes, I did try everything in post #68... did not fix the problem. Verizon is sending me new sim card, but I don't think this will fix the problem. Any other suggestions? I've read that I should NOT do a factory reboot as this may brick my device... is that correct?

No,a factory reset will not brick your phone. If you permanently installed recovery,you will have to boot to recovey,and chose the "wipe data/factory reset" option.

If you still have the stock recovery,you can choose the factory reset option in phone settings or hboot.

The factory reset is wat fixed it for the other user that was having prollems.
