So, I updated to Gingerbread FA19 rooted as I did the last update with odin. I have never used Titanium backup but it seems to go just fine. Installed all user and system apps and settings just fine. Then, yesterday I realized that I was not getting my email alerts, then realized my phone did not ask me to login to gmail when I first started it this time.... and now, Gmail is not in the apps list. (All my contacts as updated with sync with my google account are back, however)

I went to the Google Play and attempted to download the gmail app and got an error. it read after pressing Accept & Download

I assumed this was because I was on 3G and not wifi. I attempted again once I got home and got the same message.

I then tried to download it from the internet from my computer and then move it to my phone and when prompted to select which device to add it to, it says my samsung already has the app installed.

Lastly, I went into Titanium backup and it is not listed under system or user apps.

What did I do wrong?
Please help, I use my email for a great number of things.

Thanks in advance.

I started having issues with Gmail about a month ago . It would never notify me when I got new mail so I ended up switching to the stock email app and it's working perfect . :D

I started having issues with my Gmail not syncing about 3 months ago after one of the updates. I managed to keep one of the old .apk's on my computer and hid away on my SD and reinstalled when needed, but eventually I gave up...

I've had this happen with a few of my apps before. Turned out that it was a problem with the cached one on my phone. I deleted the cache and restarted the phone. When I went back in the app reloaded and worked fine. This includes apps that I couldn't download from the store. It's almost as if it was going to install the app but knew it was already there, so it just didn't go ahead with the installation process.

There are several ways to delete the cache. You can do it manually via the settings, you can use Titanium Backup to delete the dalvik-cache or you can use CWM to delete it as well from the advance menu.

Hey Wetbiker7. If I use the stock app for my gmail will my contacts still sync? Or will I have to sync my contacts some other way? I'm aware of backing up my contacts from the Concats app... but I rarely do it that way.

i don't use Gmail and mine still sync. I'm pretty sure that they will sync when you sign in to the market. It uses your gmail account.

Interesting. So the sync is related to your market instead of your mail. Or perhaps it's related to your gmail account and not any particular app...

Sent from my [insert device] using Tapatalk.

I don't use Gmail at all but yet I my contacts and calendar stiil sync. They may sync when the calendar does but that's triggered when you sign in Market with your gmail account.
