Anyone on here tweaked with their screen brightness levels? Also, anyone know of any tests involving the Nexus battery life at different screen brightness levels?
Haven't found any battery life differences but I generally run my Nexus at ~25% screen brightness. If I'm outdoors and need it, I'll crank it up, but that's it. I used to always use Auto, but found the Nexus isn't the best on that setting versus previous phones.

That's why I'm modifying my brightness levels in the ROM I'm running. It gives you the ability to not only change the brightness at each level, but change the breakpoints of each level and set how many levels you want so you could potentially just have 3 levels for low, medium, and high. What I'm doing is keeping indoor levels really low as I've found it really doesn't matter. I'm putting 25 different levels just for smooth transitions at first, I'll probably cull that down to 10 levels but I'm fine tuning each to run the lowest possible brightness I can stand.
I find that Axiom's Patient Zero rom gives me the best battery life. He uses one of Trinity's kernels and it's a 4.0.4 base. At first I didn't notice any difference, but after letting it "settle" for a day and letting the battery run all the way down, it seems to be pretty good.
I'm getting about 7 or 8 hours, but I use my brightness set at 100% at all times.
100% all the time?!?! You're nuts. I use mine for the most part around 25% as it's perfectly adequate. This is the first phone I've found the Auto setting is pretty poor. I turn it up only when I'm in bright sunshine (the ONE place where I find the Bionic to be better).

I usually run it around 50% unless in bright sunshine too. Then it's got to be at 100% and angled juuuuuust right for no glare. Still better than the Dinc in the sun though.
With backlit devices, I just can't handle them being so bright. Maybe it's just cause I'm usually in darker places, but I like it to be pretty gentle on my eyes. The Nexus can get bright as hell, but it's got nothing on my Prime with IPS on and full brightness!
Good question. I've been getting lost in being a "moderator." By that I mean following up on reported posts and moderating breeches in the rules and arguments. That becomes less than fun, sometimes. I realized if I don't get out and have fun and shmooze more, I'm going to burn out. So, I'm trying.
What I particularly don't have fun with is when a member insults another member. I infract them, then they rail at me for being unfair. In some ways, this is a no-win job. So? I think I'll do better getting out more.
If anyone is an elctro/techno fan, I just discovered Girl Talk (actually on A Day in the Life Of). Absolutely love it. No wonder the guy was an engineer.
Steven, I figured the Mod job was taking away a bunch of the fun. I know how it is to be a manager at work and spend my job disciplining people. Sucks, but that's how life is.
Still, never be a stranger here!
