Remove apps from Google Play Account

Hi All,

Is there a way to remove apps from Google Play Account?

I understand the paid ones need to stay, but i have a lot of apps/games that I've installed to
try or play and no longer want, and would like to remove them from the actual Market.

Excellent question. I see apps that I tried for fifteen seconds last year, and there they sit on the Market/Play list, like I’m still using them. I asked your question here months ago, hope you get a better answer.

Here’s the answer, or lack thereof:

Permanently removing uninstalled apps

At this time, there is no way to permanently delete or remove apps from the Google Play website (My Orders/My Android Apps) or from the Google Play Store app (My Apps) that you’ve previously downloaded but have since uninstalled.

Uninstalling apps using the Google Play website

Android apps may only be uninstalled from the device itself - there is no way to remotely uninstall items from play.google.com.

I just installed AppBrain for the umpteenth time -- I delete it occasionally to give The Market one more chance -- and noticed something curious:

Why is it that they, who aren’t directly connected to the Market, show exactly what’s on my phone, show nothing that is isn’t, whether I view this on my PC or my phone? How can they do something that Google has said is impossible?

Sideloaded apps are becoming more of a pain. It seems Titanium Backup is struggling to detatch from the market. They always used to come back but now They dont even go. So I have updates for sideloaded apps that I cannot update as they were purchased elsewhere / free versions of paid apps.

Also things like google search which is an update to a poorer version than what I have is listed to update and un-detatchable. Whats worse is it does not sit in the "manual" update section so now I have to "UPDATE ALL" and quickly go and cancel the search from updating.

Wow. Now I'm wondering what other information will about suddenly become visible from my phone. All anyone has to do is open up your market to see a list of every single app you ever downloaded on any of your Android devices.

Spoke to Google Play support yesterday, they are aware that this is an annoying issue and claim to be "working on it". No fix yet as it is in their database.

You will get different answers from each support person you talk to sadly. I've also been told it isn't a bug and is working as intended.

It's supposed to be an "easy way to find and install past apps" in case of a factory format.

That's all fine and good, but it should only install past apps that I bought from Google. Not past apps that I bought from other app stores. That's the problem.

He means for example, the apps you might pick up from Getjar's app store.

They show up as purchased in the Google Play Store. The problem is that often these Getjar apps won't get updates but you can't uninstall them and re-buy them from the Google Play Store because they're listed as already purchased.

Typically what I do with sideloaded apps is use TB to break the market link. This works about 90% of the time. Honestly, I don't see a lot of app developers wanting Google to remove the history of apps from Play. The potentional for a sale exists ("Oh, I forgot about this app, it was great! I should buy it!").

Just my two cents on it.

For me Amazon is the biggest offender. I'm also finding that I can't break market links with TB any more. Used to work, but doesn't. I think the issue is with the Market though, not TB.

This worked for me.

A lot of them I don't want to re-purchase. In a lot of cases I've found that an update to the app completely breaks the functionality that I like. Rather than go search for another app, I just break the market link and the app never gets updated.

I appreciate that but since my wife and I share the same Google Play account
I have 20 pages of apps in that list and over half of thos are not apps we use or want, just apps we test and deleted,
surely i should be able to remove those from my account.

Doubtful... It's a way to possibly still generate sales on older apps. The big developers are the ones that pushed for the full app history in the first place. If Google ever does provide a way to delete them, I guarantee you that it will still not be what we want.

I have the same problem with Amazon. I went through a phase where I bought every free app of the day they had. Now I've got a bunch of apps that I'll never use and can't get rid of them.

Deleting Apps from Your Apps

To remove an app from the Your Apps list, visit the Your Apps & Devices page from a web browser and find the app you'd like to delete in the list of purchased apps. From the "Actions..." drop-down menu, select "Delete this app." Confirm you'd like to delete the app and your app will be removed from the My Apps list on all Android devices registered to your account.

Someone has secretly been downloading naughty apps and is afraid of being exposed lol.
