Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Day one of tweaked power usage stats. This is a chart of calculated battery usage per minute (mAh/min) for the phone minus screen power, just the screen itself, and the phone as a whole. The screen calculation was calculated only using screen on time, while phone minus screen and combined was calculated using the entire time off of charger. I'm trying to isolate the screen power usage to see how it is affected by the custom brightness settings. I'll do a few days worth of this on the revised settings I made and then a few days on the stock settings and compare the two. Hopefully I'll see a difference of a couple of mAh/min for screen power usage per minute.

As you can see, the screen itself uses up around 8 mAh/min while just the phone uses around 1.5 mAh/min. Combined, which is the most useful stat, is up around 3 mAh/min which translates to 11.6 hours typical usage per charge.

I miss Jack...thanks to Netflix, we watched from Season one in order. Made a whole lot more sense that way. So far Touch is interesting, have to see where it goes.

I loved 24. The only bumps in the road were the storyline where his daughter is being hunted by a frakking cougar, and I think they needed to go out with more of a bang. Frankly, he needed to die in the series finale.

Just not understanding - how is combined lower than just screen?

Mind expanding a bit? Would absolutely love to see results of this test and some tweaks we can do to increase battery life.

Great advice, Early. But I also had to laugh out loud. What are the odds I come back, and within my first 100 posts we need a PSA. :p

Sorry guys.

I know you take pride in opening those cans of worms Han, but I'm afraid I'm the one to blame for this one...actually the 2nd PSA directed at me since becoming really active in October. Apparently I just can't get along with anyone

Me too. Running Patient Zero version 15. Many speed tweaks and other bells and whistles, but battery life is atrocious. It went from 84% to like 42% overnight.

I'm told it needs to settle for a bit. I don't know why roms have to settle. They're not frakking houses. :(

Nah, you just have the same problem I do. You think something and so you say it, lol.

But there's hope for us yet! BB made it to guide status. She must have had her filter cleaned out.

:p

The screen calculation was calculated only using screen on time, while phone minus screen and combined data were calculated using the entire time off of charger.

Calculated the screen usage by calculating the mAh used as follows:

2100mAh(battery capacity) x percent used total x percent used by screen
Divided that number by the screen on time.

For combined I just divided total used mAh by total time off the charger. So where you have maybe an hour of screen on time, you've got 9-10 hours off the charger.

True...however BB knows what she's saying most of the time. I'm oblivious to the fact that what I'm saying is offensive until someone takes offense and then I try to explain what I meant and that offends them even more

Edit: I don't know why they didn't just PM me instead of bringing it to the thread. I say in my sig that if you have a problem to PM me and we'll sort it out. I'm really not difficult to deal with

Go on wifi when you can -- if I leave my phone on Wifi but off charger overnight I lose 6-7% of battery (1% / hour). Its amazing the difference between wifi and cell radio.

I didn't single anyone out, so no need to go there, honestly.

It was just a general notice. ;)

I wonder if you can have a script (Tasker task) then runs every 10% of battery that writes to a file or something.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Its hard after shooting the breeze with everyone for months, to remember that we are all quite different from each other in our actual lives, and we get a little too comfortable. I will be honest, I tried going over into the Politics forum, but decided that I didn't like bringing the real world into the forum, which for me is mostly fun. So I will just stick to phones, food, fun, family, and forum games.

P.S. I honestly think you and I would get along great in real life. Other than the fact you are an EE ;) Damn sparkys. :D

Hey all, I still am getting weird notices when I try to Thank, it opens a new page and now says:

vBulletin Message
Could not find phrase 'post_thanks_flood'.

Hmmmm.... wonder if it was due to that tinkering with the Thanks button, before adding the Share button a few days back...

Maybe try clearing your browser cache, let me know if you still have trouble after that. :)
