No offence, but...

I still can't believe this guy.
He claims to "have access to the Incredible 4G", repeatedly says the word "confirmed" but offers no verifiable "confirmation".
There is no way in heck I would claim to have something like this IN HAND without snapping a photo of it. Do we not have boundless access to cell cameras, digital cameras, web cams, etc?! If you were privileged enough to have a DInc4 IN HAND, dont you think you would also be savvy enough to figure out a way to take a photo? I know three year olds that know how to take pictures.
Seriously.

No, The only way I have access is by asking a manager from another department as he is carrying it around as his personal phone. Im not going to whip out my camera and start taking pics of it in front of him.

Don't sweat it. Haters always gonna hate.

IIRC from waiting for the first Droid Incredible, Verizon higher ups also were using the phone at the time. This forum only got lucky because there was somebody on Twitter who had access to the phone and came and registered here and shared photos and specs.

Anyhow.... got any 411 on the other upcoming phone, the Droid Fighter? Any other phones being tested around by HTC or Sammy? Thanks!

I can appreciate this situation, and if it is so I do appreciate your sharing what information you can.
But you must understand our skepticism as it isn't uncommon for people to release false information for personal satisfaction. While I don't understand this motivation, it happens. And it's usually a new face that created a new user ID whose first purpose is to stir peoples excitement about new phones and rumors, which this being your first activity here looks suspiciously like.
I don't mean to be insulting, just cautiously skeptical.

Other photos of the phone on phonearena show it running Android 4.0.1 and sense 4.0. I'll find the original article and edit my post in a minute.

Edit: New HTC Device With Incredible 2 Styling Leaks With 4G LTE and Running Ice Cream Sandwich – Droid Life

Sent from my incredible

Those pics look fake to me, but who knows. The htc one software looks completely different(which the incredible 4G should be modeled after). The "about phone" section doesnt look anything like other htc phones, and I've never seen a "hardware information" section, at least, I don't remember one on the original inc...

And the overall software styling looks exactly like gingerbread.

and you still have yet to read this thread. Those questions were already answered. Stop being so lazy and read.

No, you didn't answer the question... It was asked what the fourth capacitive button you mentioned is for... All other ICS phones only have 3 buttons.

Oh and the symbols on the bottom 4 buttons rotate just like on the Incredible 2.

There should only be three "buttons", ICS got rid of the "menu" button... There should only be a "back" , "home" and "previous app" button. All new HTC phones released running ICS only have the three buttons also, why would this have a fourth? What does this mysterious fourth button do?
AMOLED display 960x540 same display as the HTS One S. The Incredible 4G is basically identical to the One S just has a SOC that is designed for Verizons network and different body design. Note that it is not as super-slim as the One S but its still very slick and thin.
You say it's identical to one s, but the one s only has 3.

I have read the entire thread and still don't understand what's going on with the four capacitive keys and ICS/sense 4.0 running with the the three...
I just don't get it.
I mean really I don't care either way,I like the search button & I am kinda sad to see it go on a "google" phone.

Anyway, it is easily replaced by an on screen widget for the same functionality...

Oh, well, it's ICS and sense 4.0 with the traditional 4 key Android hTC phone layout made for VZW, I guess, that's all I can see.:what:

Basically it doesn't make ANY sense that the phone would have four capacitive buttons, when all other ICS HTC phones got rid of them.

This is what sense 4.0 and ICS look like:

LOL, what does not make sense about it? Its has an extra capacitive button. I dont understand how this is difficult to comprehend...

So you guys are saying that just because some other ICS phones have only three button that the forth button the the incredible 4G will just be unassigned and do nothing?

LOOOOOOL!!!

Im sorry but I just had to giggle at the logic being displayed here.

What is the button for? What is its function? It's a simple question. Capacitive buttons have a designated function built in. Are you saying the incredible 4g is keeping with the froyo/gingerbread layout for its buttons(no multitasking button)?.. Or does it have the new ICS layout with a mystery fourth button?

Don't understand why you can't just answer the question? When you are the one who started the thread and asked if there was anything we wanted to know.

I didn't say it would simply do nothing. Just said it confused me and didn't make sense...

I am accepting the fact that ICS/ sense 4.0 on this phone just has the search button. (4 keys)

When my Dinc2 in my hand now, gets updated to ICS it will still have the 4 keys... Given it might not be sense 4.0 though.
:p

You clearly aren't reading what we're saying. We're asking what this fourth button does. ICS does away with some of the buttons used in Gingerbread phones, and most ICS phones just use 3 buttons. So we're curious to see what this fourth button does.

It's just the magnifying glass, search.

Doesn't have to be, it could be a menu button. It would either have to be:

Menu, back, home, search(Old layout) and not congruent to current ICS HTC phones

Or

Home, back, multitask (what all current ICS HTC phones have)

Or

Home, back, multitask, search(ICS layout)

Or

Home, back, multitask, menu(ICS layout)

If it does have the older layout, it brings in to question how current other hardware on the phone would be. Why would they use an outdated hardware model for a brand new phone?

So the question goes back to Incredible4G, does the phone have the multitask button? If yes, what is the fourth button (search or menu or ??) or does it use the outdated layout?

Also does it have beats audio?

The logic in this thread is getting funnier and funnier now.

The specs of the phone are already confirmed as Snapdragon S4, 1gb RAM, ICS, Sense 4.0, FOUR capacitive buttons and yet you still are wondering if the specs will be the old snapdragon S3? This is now getting too funny IMO. :D lol.

And you are still ignoring the question... List what each capacitive button does. I never said anything about the processor....
I'm questioning the reasoning behind HTC using an outdated hardware model (not talking about the processor) for a brand new phone especially since all other new phones from htc dont use the four capacitive button model. I don't expect you to answer WHY they did it, just want to confirm the button choices... So again can you list what each capacitive button is for?

And this is just a comment about HTC, not directed at you(incredible4g) I find it odd, if they are using the old layout, that they would design a phone for ICS and not use capacitive buttons that most enhance the OS. ESPECIALLY since the htc one s and htc one x both use the new capacitive layout.

Well, yeah, snapdragon Qualcomm S4 is certainly the latest hardware not to be hindered by an extra capacitive key. No other phone that is out now in the U.S. Has an S4, this Dinc3/4G will be the first on VZW.
The key layout will be identical to this phone. (Dinc2)
Home, menu, back, search. The names of the keys are redundant for their purpose, but it still needs some type of multifunction type ICS function...

Yes, it will have beats.

Confirmed by who? You? Verizon has announced nothing yet. You still aren't telling us what the fourth button is for. Instead you are insisting our logic makes no sense at all, when it clearly does. We just want to know what these four buttons do. Because it is unlikely that the buttons from the Droid Incredible 2 are going to be used in a new ICS Droid Incredible 3. The new standard in ICS based phones is three buttons, so if the Droid incredible 3 has four buttons, what are they?

hTC made this phone to VZW's specific specs. VZW is a controlling carrier. And, you know they want it done their way.
They dropped in a special S4 processor inside optimized to run on their LTE network...
VZW told them they wanted the traditional Android 4 key layout.
Identical to the Dinc2.
hTC is making the new sense 4.0 phones with the 3 key layout.
VZW didn't want that for this One S variant that they are branding as a Droid Incredible 4 to run on their network.

I'm telling you VZW axed the One S new style keys for the traditional layout on sense 4.0/ICS for this handset.

Ok, I admit now after thinking about it, It *might* have a multitask key.
In fact it should.
...:thinking::what:
Maybe long pressing the traditional menu or home will bring up the overflow/multitask function...

I'm sure the four buttons would be used just like they are used on any other phone being updated to ICS. The button doesn't become, "useless" per se, just it has been tied back into the OS by HTC instead of Google.

As for the people saying the pictures don't look right, keep in mind that those leaks are from even before the One series were announced. It may be different because it was a prior build. If you look at the leaked pics of the One S, Sense looks a little different before it was announced there too. :p

I just don't understand why'd they'd do this, instead of tying it in with the One series and giving it the same look. It just looks so much better, and goes better with ICS. And this is an ICS phone, not a phone being updated for ICS at a later time. So why not go with the ICS button layout, as with the other 4.0 phones that are coming out? It just bums me out because it looks so much better. Hopefully it still has a multi-tasking button though.
