Hey Droid Community,

So, a few weeks ago I tried connecting my droid to my 360 to stream a movie, but had no luck getting anything on my droid to play on the xbox. Just wondering whats up with that? Am I doing something wrong, is it fixed now, or does it just not work?

THANK!#$@!#!@#!@#

You have something on your SD card you want to play on your 360?

Did you mount your SD card? When you connect your phone to your 360, you gotta pull down the notification shade and mount the SD card as a drive. I don't have a 360, but I think it should support this.

If you've already done this and still can't play your movie, it might be because it's not a format supported by the xbox.

Pretttty sure I mounted it, I remember cuz I was frustrated. I cant view anything on my droid, as in cant even see the files/names of anything.

Well, I dunno then. I don't have a 360 and I don't know the extent of its USB support. I know it'll work with external HDD's and flash drives, and I don't think the Droid behaves any differently when mounted.

But I dunno, maybe someone who has a 360 can share success/failure stories. Sorry.

Yea, just want to know whats up. I figured it would work like any other device but :/ So if anyone has a 360 try it out and lemme know ^.^

Just an FYI (not really much help and slightly OT), I was able to mount my Droid on my PS3 and copy files off of the SD card on to the hard drive of the PS3. I could have watched directly off the phone, but I didn't want anyone tripping over/stepping on my Droid. I would have thought that the 360 would be the same tbh...Are you sure you mounted it? My PS3 would not see my Droid until I mounted...

The Xbox 360 is locked down and therefore does not recognize USB Flash Drives (unless you hack the system). The problem with the Droid is that it is not a traditional mp3 player. Thus when you connect it to the Xbox 360, the Xbox tries to open it like it would an mp3 player. Because the Droid is not an mp3 player and instead must be connected as a flash drive, the Xbox will not recognize it.

Hope that helps clear some of the air for everyone.

This is ENTIRELY UNTRUE. I have used USB flash drives many times to play music on my xbox. As a matter of fact, here is an article from xbox.com about how to troubleshoot if a usb drive doesn't work when you plug it in.

This is directly from an article on xbox.com :
http://support.xbox.com/support/en/...dia/movies/videofaq/viewvideoplaybackfaq.aspx

"Q: What are the different ways to play video content on the Xbox 360 console?
A: You can play video from a USB 2.0 FAT 32 removable drive or optical media, and by streaming from the Zune software or Windows Media Player 11."

USB Flash drives can also be used to issue updates if for some reason you can't connect your Xbox to the internet.

One interesting thing that I read is that a USB mass storage device connected to the Xbox must use the FAT 32 file system. I don't know what file system the Droid uses, perhaps this could potentially be the issue? Someone may know the answer...

Most likely the video you want to watch is stored on your SD card. Are there any card readers out there that act as mass storage devices? If so, you can take the SD card out of the droid and put it in the card reader. It may not be the best option, but it could be an option..

EDIT: Found the answer to the FAT 32 question here: http://developer.motorola.com/products/droid/

It is FAT32 file sytem - which would lead me to agree with Screamster. I would bet it's a driver issue.

SORRY - LAST ONE...

After much searching, I think I have a solution. There is an app in the marketplace called "Twonky" which will turn your Droid into a media server. Connect your droid to your wifi network (the same network your Xbox is connected to) and your Xbox should be able to recognize the Droid. You can then begin streaming media (pics, music, video) from your Droid over Wifi to your Xbox.

Problem solved, I think. I am going to give it a shot tonight when I get home from work.

Ok, Sorry for the incorrect info. The last I knew, you couldn't. But it appears that I am wrong.

Now that I know this, I will definitely hook up my external HDD. I'm running low on space and need to free up the 21 GB o9f music that I have on it. And yes, before you ask, it took for effing ever to rip all those CD's to my Xbox 360 HDD :D.

Thanks for clearing things up for me.

Comments on the Market lead me to believe that pictures and music work OK, but no video.

you use your box that much? i use it for the typical gaming and occasional DVD. xbox implemented so OK stuff but it never took off. like the camera i bought. cool, 4 games to use? novel idea at first, fell wayyyyyyyy short. much like Avatars. could have been so so so cool but in the end, nobody cares. initially they were fun but now what? but clothes and STUPID toys they play with...?

IF xbox pushed the limits of how much fun all this could be, then it would be the system to beat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not saying PS is great, but it feels like you have more control with it. can you feel what i'm saying?

I actually tried to use it as a media server, but it doesn't ever work properly. So I ended up saying "screw it" and just ripped each CD to the HDD.

I listen to music when I'm playing online and when I have friends over. I like that I'm able to make a play list with all of the best songs, and then play through them randomly.

ANSWERED ALREADY. :|

Wrong, USB Flash drives will work in the Xbox 360 but it has to be formatted as FAT32 in order for the console to detect the drive. exFAT and NTFS won't work either. I am not sure what FileSystem Android formats the MicroSD with.
