That's a very slick ad. Maybe this could be a positive reflection of the build quality we can expect?

I don't mean necessarily, but it does seem that they are taking their image as a high end manufacturer seriously.

I've watched many hands on videos but nothing eludes to the build quality. I did read a paragraph by someone who said it felt good in the hand and felt like the best offered by other high end manufacturers.

The thing about the build quality is, I really like the weight of my HTC Desire. The heft gives it a solid feel that I really enjoy. I think for this reason that the XL variant of the Ascend D Quad will probably feel nicer in the hand because of the extra battery weight.

Only once, but that was bad enough. A few years ago, both me and the wife got two SE phones from there. When we signed the contract, my signature wasn't 100% identical to the one on my card. I have a strange signature. The sales guy went off to his supervisor to check it. He then came back and asked me to do a line here and there to make it exactly the same. In a shop full of customers on a busy Saturday afternoon. I was made to feel like I had tried to forge my own signature. Very humiliating....

Also I hate going on there due to them hounding you as soon as you step foot in the door. They're owned by Caudwell group who have a massive call center where I live. I had a mate who used to work there, and he hated the heavy handed sales pitches they used over the phones as well.

What I find with CPW is the majority of the time the staff are behind counters, and you go to them. No hounding.

I feel you. Off topic but similar humility. Let me tell you about my claridges experience.

I'm not a rich man. It was a milestone birthday for my girl. I booked 2 nights at claridges. I had the money for that and then a small amount of money for essentials (food, alcohol).

Unbeknownst to me, in addition to the room cost, they froze quite a substantial amount of money per night to cover mini bar costs just in case. This was actually ALL my money.

The duty manager made us wait outside the dining room at breakfast time, where he proceeded to talk loudly about our predicament. In front of an entire breakfast queue of rich people...

God I feel the sick sensation of humiliation just hearing your story. The servants of the rich are often bigger snobs than the rich themselves. He was punishing you for having the audacity to give them your money. Put you in your place. You have my sympathy.

This phone looks the dogs B's to me, it certainly looks to be basic android and no carrier shit on it, and as has been stated it would be the perfect handset for modding and Dev's alike provided it can have roms built for or ported to.
I'm still gonna keep a beady out for the sgs3 and compare, but I'm not due an upgrade till September, so we could have an 18 core, 30 mega pixel, 250gb, 3d hd m-led screen, with a battery that never runs out. But we might not!

Speaking of battery, apparently Huawei will upgrade the D Quad XL a bit later with a 3000mAh battery.
