Hi,

Recently I have purchased HTC droid Incredible 2 (Verizon) from my friend. This is an awesome phone. The problem I am facing is that I am unable to update my phone to android 4. When I try to update via phone it shows "Network is not available" and in status it shows "Verizon Wireless". I stay in India, and there is no Verizon service provider. What should I do to update my phone to android 4?
Please help me regarding this.

Thanks.

As far as I know there isn't a way to update your software unless you're on Verizon's network or if you're rooted. ICS isn't even out yet for our phones, so neither one would work for you right now. Your best bet is to wait until the official update comes out (we don't yet know when that will be, hopefully soon) and root your phone then install ICS.
You could root now and install an ICS ROM, but the ones available are not fully functional without all the code needed for our specific phones.

Droid Incredible 2 has been confirmed for Android 4 update. I have read in the official HTC blog:

I was just wondering whether is there any other way to upgrade my phone (android 2.2.1) to android 4.0? Please suggest me some other alternative guys.

Yes it is coming eventually, BUT...
Until we have the official update package available to us in SOME way, you can not upgrade to it. Sorry, but that is just the way it is.

...wait until the official update comes out (we don't yet know when that will be, hopefully soon)...

I maintain that without root, I don't think there is any way to update at all unless you're on Verizon's network. Sad, but true. There have been multiple threads started on the subject and I have not seen one outcome that doesn't follow the previously stated answer.

That being said, you could send your phone to a friend somewhere with Verizon service and have them update after it is released. Then they can send it back to you all Ice Creamed up.

I hope someone can give you an answer you like more, but I doubt it's going to happen. Sorry, and good luck!

Ok guys thanks for your support. I understood that I cannot update my android to 4.0. But can I upgrade to any stable version above than 2.2.1? My HTC droid Incredible 2 runs on Android 2.2.1, so want to know is there any official way to do that?

And other problem I'm facing is that I am unable to root my phone. I purchased HTC droid incredible 2 from my friend. I stay in India and there is no Verizon operator here. But I am able to use my SIM here. Today I was trying to root my phone, but was unsuccessful in doing it. I was successful in making my phone to s-off. But I am unable to install ClockWorkMod. I used ROM Manager to install Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery, but I got this error " An error occurred while attempting to run privileged command". So I tried to transfer through FastBoot, but unfortunately it got failed too. I posted this question in xda developers also. For reference please have a look and guys please help me regarding this.

Are you using an Incredible "2" or "S"? You said earlier you were using the DInc2, so we can go with that I hope.

Check out some of the Global compatable ROMs in the ROOT section or over at XDA.

Yes, I am using DInc 2. Previously I installed ICS ROM on my phone, it made my phone lock..so I had to restore everything to get it back normal..

Can you provide me some stable ROMs? Or is it possible to unlock my phone after it gets locked by installing custom ROM?

Here are two fantastic ROMs that are based on or totally stock-like. That should mean good solid performance and global support.

[ROM][3.6.12][sense 2.1/3.0] Stock Rom v4.5 / SenseM 5.0 / 5.0.1 Ext4 {tweaks/themes} - xda-developers

[ROM] andyBONESTOCK 5.10.605.9 - 5/5/12 - added swipe-to-remove - xda-developers

I have ran both and can vouch for both running great.

As far as locking and unlocking, I can't help you there. Sorry.

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried this ROM:
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1553357

It is awesome. It has sense 4 and android 4.0.3. It is working fine and did not find any problems with it. The only problem is with camera (when you take a photo with flash on, you get dark images....rest of it is good)..give a try and you will also like it..

they also gave the procedure of how to unlock..
