Non-Root Orange Hero, latest build version.

Hi,

Still getting to grips with my new Hero.

It's a great phone but silly things missing as standard.

One of the them is a two way, ( both sides phone/voice recorder ).

Are there any apps for this, I found one, recordAcall but does it record both sides of a phone conversation? and I need to be able to save it on to a PC as a wav or MP3.

Does an all in one App exist which will enable me to back up the phone settings, contacts, data apps' again to a PC?

Because of lack of bluetooth transfer on the Hero, I would like to transfer some Jpeg pictures off a PC to the Hero, how can I do this?

ahh ok Rigcru...well for transferring piccies from pc to phone I suggest you connect your phone to pc with USB cable and mount your SD card...when connected bring down the notification tab on phone and select mount SD card then just transfer piccies etc over...when complete unmount SD Card...may have to boot phone before changes take place although I have never had to but bear in mind that you will not being able to use your SD Card whilst mounted.

As for backup most people from what I can see use ‘mybackup pro’ 30 day free trail to see if you like it then once backed up can copy your SD Card to PC for backup using the method above. There are other backup apps like ‘Sprite Backup’

I am not sure about recording calls, I am sure someone else can help you there.

Thanks,

In the end I put the SD card into a usb reader and transfered photos/images that way so at least I can make do with out a blue tooth transfer app.

Still can't believe such a necessary feature is missing, hope they sort that in future rom updates.

And with no camera flash or two way voice recording as standard on most modern phones.

But I have to admit the Hero being my first android is fun and it's a new ball game for me, it's a decent enough phone.

I think Android 2.1 has bluetooth file transfer, so you just have to wait until [TBD].

Heh, dont think youre gonna be able to download a camera flash app from anywhere, but if you find one that works let us know ;)

As for 2way voice recording, AFAIK that is rarely included in phones, because you could be on dodgy legal ground (depending on what country youre in) if you record a phone conversation without informing the person youre talking to.

Yeah point taken, :D, the last two or three phones I've had had this facility, I didn't occur to me an Android phone wouldn't have a flash.

As for two way recording, SE, Nokia and Samsung have been able to resolve any legal issue, again I am use to to it being a standard feature.

And no BT file transfer as standard?
