Currently running droidmod v1.0. This is a 2.0.1 based rom. I am considering getting Petes BB v0.7 rom which is 2.1. Anyone make this switch? I was wondering what i would be gaining by switching? Also, i am hearing a 2.1 based rom as much better battery life. Can any confirm that?. Last if i switch will i lose my current setup on my phone and have to resinstall my apps and stuff? thanks

The newer roms based on ESE53 and ERE25 have much better battery life. They are faster, have the multitouch browser that is meant for droid so its not buggy like the milestone version you are using now, interactive wallpapers and probably more that I am forgetting.

You will lose you current setup because you have to wipe and when moving from 2.0.1 to 2.1

Thanks for the quick info. When u say i will lost my current setup what exactly will i lose that i have to reinstall?

All your apps and data will be gone as well as any themes or anything you applied. Your contacts should be synced with your google account so they will come right back. If you download an app called app list it makes a txt file on your sd card with you current apps. Most of the time your apps will show up right in the market if you go to the downloads screen.

I just did the switch. not sure if I am noticin better battery life. Get titanium backup and do a full batch backup as it backs up both apps AND data. After you wipe and load the rom, download titanium again and do a full apps and data restore. You will also need to download a custom kernal to get overclocking. Very easy to do as it comes in update.zip format.

My primary reason for the switch is that the browser uses antialiasing and therefore does not go blurry when scrolling and still has no lag at all. Overall, its fast and stable with no lag at all, but I didn't have that problem with droidmod either. I haven't tested battery life so I can't tell you.

Word of advise: do NOT restore system data (app data is no problem). You will have fewer problems. Been there, done that...

was it worth the switch? I am trying to see any benefits to switching. A better battery life would be great.

If everything is working well in your current setup, and you are satisfied with the status quo, no, it is not worth the switch. If you are like me, a glutton for punishment and want to stay on the cutting edge, go for it. 2.1 is quite stable, faster, and provides the eye candy of live wallpapers. And yes, there will probably be bumps in the upgrade road.

thanks for the info i think i will wait. It seems i can do everything i want right now ie.. wireless tether, 2.1 clock/dock, live wallpapers etc. Main thing i was looking at was a longer battery life. Anyway, anyone know if when adobe flash is released if it could be installed on a 2.0.1 based rom?

one question: updated to 99.3b, just came from 2.0.1 to Bugless Beast 0.7 and so far good, used Titanium to restore Apps ONLY, worked but when I tried to install any Chevy's kernals 1.0, 1.2ghz 10 slot and 5 slot i get error message E: Can't open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory) Installation Aborted. the directions say do not unzip just rename and put on root, i did it this way and also tried unzip way also with no success. would like to try Chevy's kernals. Thankyou
Edit: Found answer in another thread "from 2.0.1 to BB rom for beginners" Kirch 21 instead of "update.zip" try rename "update". That worked for me!
