Orange UK Users Upgraded To ICS 4.0.3

Hi All

I am after some general statistical information, I need to know how many of users on the forum have succesfully upgraded to ICS 4.0.3 on Orange UK?

Also can you please access http://orangeworld.co.uk on your devices and navigate to help and support>>Your technical info>> Please post your results and leave out your MSIDSN information.

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks

G: 2 Roaming: No Handset Model: HTC Sensation User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 4.0.3; en-gb; HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e Build/IML74K) AppleWebKit/534.30 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/534.30

Can i just confirm that my handset is unbranded.

Thanks for that murzz, can i ask if you got the device direct from Orange or a 3rd party retailer?

Thanks

murzz: may I ask, how did you get android 4??

Murrz has an HTC Sensation XE that is unbranded - he would have received the update direct from HTC :)

downloaded using kies, from samsung/ orange?

As he is with HTC, he would not have used Keis ;)

Just one small thing.. do you know what the 'G' number means? I get 3 on my GSII... :)

I think you are referring to the G that appears when you are using your mobile data - this relates to the 3G connection :)

thanks, D-U-R-X !! - I would think in a technical report, they would say GSM / HSDPA, not 2G/ 3G... they could at least said 'generation' ... :/

zestman: I think you will find orange is way down the 'ICS for GSII' list... 'three' has already got it, O2 may get theirs within weeks they hope... I would check back in 2 months...

unless you want to risk ruining your phone with an 'Unofficial' rom... A few reports I have seen vary from working, but not recieving to 'stuck in a download loop'...

HTC has OTA upgrades for ICS it seems, but it is still not as popular as samsung, who have been too overcareful, not thinking OTA would be possible...

Statistics - GSMArena.com

the good news is that carphonewarehouse will do the upgrade for you, when it offcially comes out, so you can avoid the tons of confusion and mis-information there seems to be, even from clueless samsung employees, and other places...

I've been connecting my Orange Galaxy SII to Kies daily but there's still no ICS :{ - any ideas when it's likely to be dnapro?

Hi Zestman, it's due for the Galaxy SII in April and that could mean right down to the wire on the last day! The HTC Sensation updates were surprisingly early for Orange so you never know. Staff rarely get told about s/w update release schedules i'm afraid.

Hey comnut

Just one small thing.. do you know what the 'G' number means? I get 3 on my GSII... :)
If it's the G: on the 'Your tech info page' on Orange world it refers to the particular network your currently connected to. 2G or 3G when the 4G network becomes available it will then display that.

That main article refers to the Vodafone network, not Orange? As a foot note on the article it does state an April release for Orange customers. Some network specific updates can be delayed over others due to software incompatibilities with each networks branding etc. :)

Um, I already said that, in my reply to D-U-R-X about the G number.....

Have you not noticed, that phone networks DO NOT all get the new stuff at once??

first its 3..
then O2..
then Vodafone..
then the rest of the much smaller companies...

ages ago, when 3 got it ( a new phone or upgrade), it was more than a YEAR until it was available on Orange..

PLEASE do a search on orange ICS, you will find there are many promised dates, and many broken 'promises'!!!

there is NO mention of orange in my linked article... I hope you are not relying on a very vague reference on another article that page links to..

Only good news I have found, is some programmers are making a version of Nova for android 2.1 up..

Have any of these dates officially come from Orange though? Have they actually been announced on Orange.co.uk or is it just a case of "my mates brothers cousin spoke with Orange tech support and ICS was promised on XXX"

Unless Orange release the info themselves, any speculation you see on forums, internet news sites or wherever is just that, speculation. Either that or it's completely false. To back this up, dnapro (who works for Orange) states "Staff rarely get told about s/w update release schedules i'm afraid."

This thread should be about Orange updates though, not vodafone?

My colleague Slug has already asked that we keep posts on topic, so in the interests of the forum rules, it would be beneficial to everyone and dna if we did that please.

It seems people do not understand me when I talk.... I have not said *anything* about contacting orange, except when asking about this post...

I know it is rather pointless asking orange, they are waiting for Samsung to get moving as well!!!

I am as impatient as everyone else to get ICS, and will be the first to tell you when I do!!

Hi,

Updated to Ice cream sandwich via Kies today.

my tech. info:

G:3
Handset Model: Samsung Galaxy S2 (seine)
User Agent: Mozilla / 5.0 (Linux; U; Android 4.0.3; en-gb; GT-I9100-ORANGE/I9100BVLPB Build/ IML 74K) AppleWebKit ... etc ....

Had to udate a Kies and MTP component via windows update first (Kies had stopped connecting to Win 7 64 as usual!)
