ICS... CSC are you eligible for an update?

I purchased Galaxy S2 in pakistan with 2.3.3 gingerbread installed on it. I updated it OTA to 2.3.4.

Now, my phone has following credentials.

PDA: I9100XWKI4
PHONE: I9100XXKI1
CSC: I9100OXXKI2 (OXX is no where listed in the list)
BUILD INFO: Wed Sep 14 20:34:11 KST 2001

Sale Code: TPH (I got it by dialing *#272*IMEI#

Will I get ICS Update?

I have heard that ICS update can be obtained by changing the CSC of phone by dialing *#272*Device IMEI#. Is is safe to do?

Please help, Sorry for ignorance.

OXX is one of a range of Samsung's multi language pack codes.

No release for OXX is available at this time. You can always check for yourself by connecting your phone to Kies, via USB.

It is not a good idea to change your sales code as you will void your warranty and I am not convinced it would work. If you were not worried about warranty you could flash one of the existing official ICS ROM's via Odin, as mentioned in the first post.

Thank you very much for your quick answer.

Now I want to upgrade my device by following the instruction on this page
[All Official ICS Firmwares] I9100XWLP4 (4.0.3) - Luxembourg (LUX) [03-4-12] - xda-developers

Do you think it is good idea to update for my phone having different CSC code etc.?

Also the on Download link (for LP4) on the above mentioned page refers me to hotfile where I found file name as below:
I9100XWLP4_I9100LUXLP1_LUX.zip

In this file name, it is LP1. What do you say? will it be LP1 or LP4?

Will it affect my phone? Is there any risk involve?

The Luxembourg (LP4) contains the following languages in the XW language pack:-

Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom

So long as you are happy with those languages it should be fine.

LP4 is the most recent release. The firmware is LP4 but the CSC will be LP1 (to be expected).

I should point out that flashing this will void your warranty. I should also mention that by following this you will no longer be able to use Samsung Kies for your updates.

How easy it is, and how risk free, depends on your ability to read and follow instructions as well as your knowledge of Android. I would not recommend this procedure for a novice as you could "brick", your phone and render it completely unusable. As I mention in post #1 here, that it is for, "experienced and competent users only".

Ok this is weird. I have:
PDA: I9100XWKK2
PHONE: I9100XXKI4
CSC: I9100OPSKK1

Apparently it's available for Optus customers in australia (OPS) however when I go onto kies, it says I have the latest firmware (2.3.6).

Please help! I've had nothing but problems since the 2.3.6 upgrade. I've factory reset, got a new sim, etc. and no go. I'm hanging out for the ICS update.

Have you ever rooted, sim unlocked or flashed your phone with Odin?

Hi all, I'm in UK with csc reading XEU. I also am waiting for the update and all I can say is if u want to wait for update via kies then just be patient. From my understanding Samsung is going to release ics on carrier handsets first then the unbranded phones, the reason being that because of different countries and handsets one ics update will not suit all phones and Samsung also want to release ics slowly in order for any errors or issues to be revolved without confusion and then when stable and usable will be officially released for XEU etc.. I also check this site daily Samsung Galaxy S II Android ICS 4.0.3 Countries Release Status Page [Continuous Updating] | Josephws'sBlog | YouMobile

I live in the UK and bought my phone from Phones4u, I am on O2 UK.

Details:
Model:GT-19100
Baseband:19100XXKI1
CSC:19100XEUKH2

Regularly connect my phone to Kies and still no update.

Can anyone tell me what the above means? Is my phone unblocked/unbranded, I gather O2 handsets are getting there updates now?

I want mine :( any time soon?

Its quite simple if you read the first two posts.
Your code is the same as mine XEU meaning its a sim free phone used by sellers such as phones4u and other retailers who sell for all operators so they can give you the same phone regardless of what sim you're gonna put in it.
So it all means that if you click on many of the links in this thread relating to Samsung releasing sim free updates of ICS that you'll see they're doing them last when hopefully most bugs are irradicated.
