I've never been positive but many original Inc users cleared it on regular occasion due to low space issues. I do find THIS post especially interesting though. Might be worth checking into.

Thank you for a speedy reply. So is this post saying I should download Handcent and then from there, there should be an option which allows me to untick it?

No, I think that person already had it installed and it turned out to be a side effect of their space issues. Just posted that in case you had it installed so you could check for a similar situation. You would think it would be related to Facebook/Twitter etc but they also have stand alone apps so I'm not sure if they're tied into something else on the phone that deals with perhaps pics/contacts or similar.

Not sure if I'm making sense there or not. Sometimes with android it seems like clearing data for a given app might do the trick for now but in reality, the long term problem may be tied to another app which is interfacing with the one you're clearing data for.

Anyway, that's why I posted that link. Bottom line is that I wouldn't be too fearful of clearing data/cache for it. Many others have reported at least temporary gratification from having done so.

I didn't initially but I tried out what it said in the article. Unfortunately I had no luck of reducing down the size. Anyway I just contacted HTC them selves of this issue and I'll see what they have to say.
I usually clear the cache to a lot of my apps such as TweetDeck and Facebook, but the clear data option leaves me a little more hesitant and it could potentially ruin my phone.
Thanks for the help though!

UPDATE:

I received an email from a guy from HTC, here is what he said to say:
"I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties with low memory.
We have tested removing the data on this application, and it has not had any adverse effect on the device. We believe it may remove the social update screen in people but that will re-sync."

So I went ahead and CLEARED THE DATA and so far I can report of no issues on my phone apart from the extra 12mbs I got. So Im a happy HTC owner once again.
