Good news for Verizon Wireless customers who are also football fans: The phone giant is now the official wireless service of the NFL.
The league reached a four-year deal with Verizon Wireless that will make NFL properties -- including live games -- available on the wireless network. The popular NFL Red Zone Channel and live games broadcast on the NFL Network will be among the offerings available to Verizon.
The deal will begin with the NFL draft next month.
Verizon replaces Sprint as the league's official wireless carrier.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Verizon Wireless reached a $720 million deal with the NFL. Verizon executive VP and chief marketing officer John Stratton told the Journal the company "will price the service in the coming weeks." -- Sean Leahy
