best interanl antena (sprint phones)

of the sprint phones on the market in the u.s. which one has the best interanl antena. i just came out of an Evo4g. i always has 2 bars where i live (we dont have 4g)i could use my pda net with my laptop. wasnt fast but would work.i purchased a Samsung Galaxy 2 epic 4g touch.the phone shows only 1 bar. using the intenat in the phone pathicily slow and when trying to use PDA net it is so slow or wont work.

The best phone by far for data and voice reception is the Photon. No other phone even comes close in those respects. But the downside is you have to be ok with the pentile display....

(Also keep in mind you're still on Sprint, so in some markets, even the greatest phone can't make up for a woefully lackluster network).

I agree that the Motorola Photon (or any Moto device) has the best radio. However, I was not a fan of the pentile display.... hopefully, Moto will improve their screens in their future phones.
However, Sprints new network will supposedly increase signal strength by approx. 20%. And that is before the 800mhz frequency is added. So, I think good things are to come to all phones.

I notice you're in TN, I seem to see a lot of positive feedback about Sprint there (as well as Atlanta and Baltimore). If we had similar reception in North Carolina I would definitely be happier -- unfortunately I almost always see dial-up level speeds on 3g and rarely get 4g here in the Triangle and Triad.

+1

I'm in Oakland, CA (SFO Bay Area)

At the moment my 3g speeds are 388kbps down and 535kbps up. These speeds are typical here and sometimes they're slower. And what the F is up with upload speeds being faster than download here? Arrrrgh!

At the moment 4g speeds are exceptionally good (for sprint) for some reason. I'm getting 3670kbps down and 254kbps up. However 4g usually cuts in and out here. And typically I get 680kbps down and a craptastic 50kbps up.

My Photon's radio picks up signal where other phones on Sprint won't. I believe that the radio on my Photon is simply the best. Unfortunately, Sprint's network is utter crap here. Verizon's network blows everyone else's networks away here. Yes, they are the most expensive but sometimes you get what you pay for. Verizon knows how to build a network in the Bay Area. Hopefully Sprint can show them up with network vision. Excuse me for being somewhat sceptical though. I'm tired of watching friends on Verizon blow my Photon away.

That's interesting that it finds that server - and also nice to hear Tampa is another market that Sprint does well in. I only wish my area fit that description as well.

My experience is more like simcha - this weekend my girlfriend and I have been wandering around town for a festival, and her verizon RAZR just works so fast for downloading apps, running google maps, checking webpages.... while my Photon can do none of those things in a usable timeframe (except in the rare locations where I can pick up a 4g signal -- and I do mean rare).
