[2.3.4 ROMS] ALLY AOSP GingerBreak & BionxCore

Not open for further replies.
For what it's worth Ally owners (Active or Un-Active) Here are my 2 latest Gingerbread based roms for the LG Ally.

For Unactivated/Active Allys
**Warning- These firmwares have not been fully tested umung users and have been tested on a Faulty Ally Device,I am not responsible for any damage done to your Ally "IF ANY" if the firmware happens to malfunction on install or just plainly by your stupidity ^^0. These Projects have been tested by me before release so, chances of these roms ruining your device are slim to none. If you plan on flashing these roms for testing and Use, Make sure you make a NAND backup using your recovery and Make sure you wipe your whole device before flashing.**

*Note*
Altho unstable, I do encourage active ally owners "those who still use their device for calling and texting" to try these roms so I can acknowledge future owners or flashers that they are dependable as far as using on a daily driver. I have remastered GNM's work and have gone beyond my limits to help Ally owners to gain a Gingerbread rom for their Ally. The following software uses LG Enlighten drivers and software to promote its productivity and operating while using previous obsolete masterpieces of past developers using this day and age scripts to hinder power for an old device.

Let us begin...

--Gingerbreak--
rgocal-albums-special-projects-picture5385-gingerbreak-desktop.jpg

A pure bare bones gingerbread rom for the Ally. I pictured what I could of what the gingerbread update for the ally would look like and built it off of imagination and the help of cyanogen based sources.
Bugs present in this build are as follows...Screen- when the system goes into standby or locks, the screen has an issue of coming out of standby and stays in standby; giving it a 5-10 second brief before pressing the lock button may allow it to resume itself out of standby. Sound- as the sound hardware works, we have had issues where the device will not send out audio to devices; for instance head jacks. Root- This firmware is not rooted, altho it proceeds to say it is, a bug prevents the system from giving privileges to applications needing root. Verizon service to Active Users- The PRL and Baseband are very buggy and performance with your service and 3g ranges constantly; another words making this rom not usefull for active users. Active users have tried but with no success in service.

-CHANGELOG-
Remastered GNM's kernel and boot image from gretel
Removed most of cyanogen software and ADW ui
Rebuilt android settings for stock feeling
Stock LG theme
Stock Android launcher
Stock Bare Bones Android Applications
Added Smart Boot Scripts from Bionx
Cleaned up cyanogen mess...
Bugs present in Baseband/Driver/Hardware
LG splash image
Extra permissions added for performance

--Bionx Core--

rgocal-albums-special-projects-picture5913-core-desktop.png

While waiting on my next device to be delivered and while I wait on other services...I prepared myself for the upgrade to gingerbread giving myself a base to start on for future devices. I present to Ally owners the Next build of Bionx, Core.
Bionx Core is based off of the Cyanogen development so features of Cyanogen are present in this build, which can be accessed from the updated Bionx Application. The changes in this build can be found in the changelog viewer in the Bionx Application.
Bugs present in this build as follows...Screen- The same bug accurs as in gingerbreak however it can be fixed by navigating to the Bionx application and pressing Display and unchecking the Screen off Animation. Audio- Same bug persist as in Gingerbreak, working to correct. Seems to be present in the LIB folder of the system. Verizon Service to Active Users- I do not know what service is provided to users who test this firmware on an active ally. I have done multiple things to this build to provide the best service to users who attempt to test this on the verizon network. I changed the fingerprint to 2.3 using the LG Enlightens ID, Ive updated the PRL libs and changed the build.prop to work correctively on the network. On my testers Ally, it showed 4 full (non-fully connected) bars of service. What kind of service is unknown...

**NOTES FOR ACTIVE ALLY OWNERS**
I have received word as of to date, that this rom does in-fact support texting and calling through the verizon network...As this was a goal for past developers on the Ally. Please use at own risk and knowing that some or many calls and text may be missed. I will continue to update this rom as long as Ally users test this rom and give me results of use and an occasional bug report in this forum.

RESULTS MAY VERY UPON DEVICE/LOCATION/FIRMWARE VERSION/DEVICE SETTINGS
The PRL and Baseband on our testing device was the following
PRL- 52341
signal strength- -1073741913dbm 0 asu
Baseband- M76XX-TSNCJPLYM-60401001

The Gingerbreak Rom is initially open for any other development if you are interested in starting a development career with your ally. I do not care if you use it for your own project or if you want to add onto it. No permission needed ^_^
It is usefull if you want to rebuild the Cyanogen firmware or Create a Miui port which I tried but kept getting undesired results. I will not be help responsible for any more projects on the Ally, its an open door for someone else.

Correct me if im wrong but the GNM's CM7 is fully rooted, i can overclock, give apps permission, but then again i could be wrong. what results did you get from the MIUI attempted ports?

Yes that firmware is, so is bionx core. Bionx core is a fancier version of cm7 for ally. Just with a few features missing.

Miui ports booted, however i kept gtn force closes when the miui launcher was touched or anything for that matter. Was a matter of a mis written script which im not experienced in.

im Running Bionix Core Right now :D lol ... so its a problem with the launcher? or right when you tried to unlock it crashed and FC'd? :( i guess we'll never get a MIUI rom then lol.

Well it wasnt just the launcher, anything miui coded would start then if u accessed something, it would reboot or trash itself.

How is the firmware btw, i put it together in a days time

the Firmware is Great! its pretty fast, btw what is launcher is on the Core? im liking the Moto Theme, very nice. Apps seem to run faster on 2.3 than 2.2, its awesome :)

The text in the status bar is black, kinda hard to read when you have the Market open in the background, blends in. doesnt bother me that much. Besides the Audio problem, liking the rom!

From what I see so far in the screen shots, I think I'm gonna give Core a try. It's gonna have to wait until summer though, so that I can fully decide whether I want to upgrade to a new phone or keep my little Ally with Core (I'm eligible for upgrade in July this year).

If my service still remains, I'm gonna keep my Ally with Core. Otherwise it's a new phone altogether for me.

However, would it still be possible to switch back to a 2.2.2 ROM like Bionx or Velocity even if I flash Core?

yep, u can still switch back to 2.2.2, i just made a nandroid backup since i hate reinstalling everything .... i think u wouldnt get that good of a service if use a 2.3 rom ... where i usually get Full bars i get 1 or 2 at max.

I still think it would be kind of cool if he tried the 2.3.4 ROM to see if it actually works for an activated ally, service wise

ok so i got the core dled and no service :/ if rcogal still wants to try and get around these issues im down to test stuff and report back whats going on from an activated ally. im stuck with it for another year so it would be nice to have 2.3.4 with a working radio

P.S. Its 3G service that is displayed. just doesnt show the icon when wifi is on.
