HTC desire shootout

OK guys, looks like I can't get a Nexus, I have no idea if Google are going to sell it untied here, so I've come up with a load of questions and things i already know to make answering easier:

Desire:

runs sense ui
android 2.1
576 MB ram (any difference in speed to 512 :S?)
optical trackpad

questions:

will i be able to get google voice, maps, goggles, latest GOOGLE apps etc on it?

can i root it?

can i disable sense and run eclair fully? like the nexus

does the noise cancelling make any difference?

THANKS GUYS!:):)

Well not according to every site the HTC desire has ever mentioned on(alright, maybe i'm exajurating), but almost every site mentions the desire has 2.1.

But more on topic, You'll be surely able to run all the apps that are made by google it self. They always update there apps as fast as possible to keep themselves up to date.
You are able to root it, although i thought I read somewhere some devices that have a layer around them, so not the bare android, are harder to root. This is a choice of the manufacturer, they choose how hard it is to root.
Simply yes, go to the running app section in settings, or use a taskkiller.
And last, not really. Just ask yourself, did my other phones worked well without it, do I really need it.

Ya nod. I swear i saw it android 2.0.1 first time i was reading up on this device.

Regardless... i'm torn in either getting Desire or Nexus One.

I don't usually believe the very first rumors aboput a device. Like they said it would capture HD and play divx. Had a core of truth, but surely not something to get your hopes up.
And i'm also not sure to take the desire, both good, but nexus will be up to date faster (if HTC hasn't seen the light yet) :) For me i'll just take the one who will release the fastest.

HD capturing sounds cool & so does the divx playback :p

Well Tmob UK wont be getting the Nexus, they've instead opted for the Desire obviously over the support issues their customers will face if they opted for the N1.

I really hope existing customers can pre-order and maybe get theirs delivered on 26th?

If that was the reason why will Vodafone be getting it? Do you think TM give a monkeys about their customers? Start looking at their discussion pages.
