Help Samsung Moment not working

Hi, I'm having a rather annoying issue with my Samsung Moment. It turns on just fine, but as soon as you hit the power button to turn the screen off, the screen goes black and the lights on the buttons glow. Pressing the power button only makes the lights go on and off. If you let it sit for long enough, it might turn on once in a while. Otherwise, you have to remove the battery. Also, it cannot be powered on from the power button. Inserting the battery automatically turns it on, and even if you turn it on and off, holding the power button does absolutely nothing. This makes it impossible to enter Android System Recovery mode to clear all user data. I did, however, do a complete wipe of the phone by dialing ##RTN# and selecting restore. (I know my MSL.) I have tried restoring it from the settings as well. Nothing seems to make it any better. This phone was working perfectly before. I sold it to someone who upgraded and sold it back to me cheap since it has a cracked digitizer. There are signs of water damage, and the person who used it admitted to exposing it to water. However, he said it was right when he first got it, and there haven't been any problems. Also, this is a refurbished phone, as I can tell from the RTN as well as a sticker on the back. If anyone knows what could cause this problem and how to fix it, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
