Root [ROM][CM9 KANG][Alpha] Updated 3.5.5---6/27/12

kato is working really hard with all of the oc kernels...i dont know anything about them..so hopefully he can whip us up a oc kernel with data2ext in the near future...if he does i will intergrate it..the oc kernel in this alpha is his 900mhz kernel...ill check into a different music player though so thanks..i guess if anything i get from doing this is to show everyone that progress has been and can be made...so sooner or later we will get it all the way there...just takes time...i didnt do anything special to this except add some mods and tweaks a new kernel..some other users fixes..swaped out some other stuff for things in my opinion that work better..i must had flashed my phone back and forth 20-30 times each night i was working on this..gave me a new kind of respect for what Hroark,Blood,Kouma,Skater and the rest of the developers go thorough...superuser was acting like a real pain in the ass...and not getting along with one of the changes i was making

do this

-backup sd card..cwm backups,pics,music all that good stuff to your pc
-go to settings->storage->unmount sd->erase sd card->erase everything
-exit settings and reboot
-boot back into your rom, a few minutes later boot back into CWM
->advanced->partition sd->1024m and 0m swap->when finished go back to main and reboot

when you boot up you should be good to go..follow instructions in op for restoring the image of your choice

if this does not work i would try a different sd card because your current sd may somehow be corupted

That DOES NOT work man, I've been trying to tell you that bro, there's nothing wrong with my CWM either, haven't had a bit of problem with it, I'm even on the latest version with the update installed for it... Now when you say flashing the zip do you mean actually FLASHING THE DOWNLOADED ZIP from the OP of this thread??

truthfully dude, ive had 150 some odd downloads and quite a few people pm me or post with different problems..only one of that 150 people that i know of got a md5 mismatch..which was you...i never said you had anything wrong with your cwm bro?...there is two things i could do for someone with a md5 mismatch one of which they could do on their own by REPLACING the md 5 file..or i could make another backup which i dont see any point in doing over one person having a problem with restoring the image..whats with the caps dude? and what are you talking about flashing?

edit: 179 downloads

No point in getting upset.

When in doubt restore the CWM backup the instructions dictated and try again another day.

edit: somtetimes we all need to remember that no mod/instructions are perfect. We mod our Prevails at our own risk.

Backup > restore > try another day.

lol i have no idea what the cwm issue is with the above poster..if i had all the answers we would have a fully working CM9..Not saying its anything he is doing..but there is a number of things that act weird when flashing -backing up or restoring..we have all experienced strange things while doing one of the three..every phone is different..but all im saying is 180 downloads and one person reporting that error? also everything i upload for people to use is tested by me and other people that i trust to be honest..My op clearly states my reasoning for uploading a image to restore and not flash..I actually did it that way to cut down on the confusion for new people who were having trouble getting cm9 up and running..so im not sure what the deal is :D

lol bro you are a real tool...do you have something wrong with you? or do you intentionally not read posts? do you want me to upload a pic of media fire with the downloads? do you want the testers i used to restore it post and let you know its possible? i dont know why your phone wont restore it..you may not be the only one of 200 dls that cant restore it..go as koush why ..i didnt make cwm bro..is this your first device bro? maybe you shouldnt speak on things you have no clue about..go to the TU forum and see how ppl flasg ROMs then come back and tell me its not possible..as i said before some phones and or devices have a broken CWM and cannot flash roms in the traditional way of install zip from sd..THEY HAVE TO RESTORE THEM..all from diff. phones..i would love to sit here and argue with your lame ass but i have a job to get back to bro..i dont sit home allday and TROLL threads..Prolly gonna get in trouble for this post but someone needa to put you in your place..not exactly the way for someone new like your self to earn respect and frienda around here..not by acacking ppl constantly

I understand and did see it man, I just don't know why my phone/CWM won't go through with his backup for restore, I have the latest CWM with the update for it installed, I don't have a problem creating backups of my own and restoring them at a later point, and I also don't have a problem with the partitioning or other functions in CWM, I just don't know why it won't restore the backup that he posted... :(

I tried this ROM 2 days ago and had issues also.

I assume that I was doing something wrong on the install and will likely try again tonight.

Now that I have gotten into the habit of doing full CWM backups, I kinda enjoy testing different ROMs/themes knowing I won't be stuck in a corner.

lol it happens bro..i cant tell you the weird stuff i have come across while messing withevery single device i have..you are missing my point dude..you may not be the only one thay cant restore it..but you are completely missing every post i have written when i said of 200 downloads you are the only one with this problem..or that is reporting this problem..so of those 200 downloads..ill just humor you and say 50 ppl got md5 mismatch..well that leaves 150 ppl who didnt which proves the point i have been trying to beat in your head that it CAN be done..so educate yourself before you make blatent assumptions that a install method doesnt work because you cant seem to make it happen on your phone..END of conversation..this thread is for the development of CM9 not for you to cry and piss and moan

Okay so I was able to download the file by using my transformer tab and the unzipping it ant pushing it over to micro SD but when I booted into recovery it would not flash.it checked the md5 with no problem but when it went to restore the system it got about an eight of the way through and threw an error.I was already running hroarks cm7 beta on the data to next kernel which was already partitioned(correctly) and once I repartitioned it formatted my whole SD card part of which was my data and the other side had cwm restore file.....so I just odined back to stock gb and would like some enlightenment...:(

@Johnny424 I apologize for the words we had man, I'm just a little frustrated as to why the backup won't restore, was really looking forward to testing it for you and was happy when you PMd me to ask me to test it for you, like I said, very sorry man...

i didnt see your apology bro..but anyway i am no developer by any means dude..so i will do whatever i can to help ppl play with ics..if people are having trouble restoring i can make it flashable..but the problem with that is it breaks root and their are permission and su issues because of su binary..if any one has suggestions im all ears..

I was always on ejo6 even on beta 5 I do have the latest cwm 5.0.2.6. I did not happen to check the log after getting the error because I figured it was something I was doing wrong and its long gone now.I did try again after Odin back to rooted stock still no luck I'm now getting this infamous md5 mismatch :D.I tryed making a backup of stock an placing that md5 in the restore file you provided still mismatch....while I was in there I noticed some differences in the md5s and also the fact that the md5s reflect the rest of the restore file maybe this is the problem maybe editing my stock md5 to reflect the contents of the cm9 file would be a possible answer.or maybe taking out nonessential parts of the cm9 file to match my stock md5 :thinking: . Also I should mention I have gotten the same error in the past after changing from beta5 to data2ext beta when trying to do an advanced restore of non system items (apps).perhaps something to do with where the info on the restore file is coming from and the change in that when data2ext is applied.

I would also like to thank everyone on the forums.although I have only a few posts I've been watching from afar and always find posts helpful.....even the epic fails :cool:

Anyway I am such an idiot man, I can't believe it was something as simple as this: Everyone who is getting md5 mismatch errors, don't rename the folder of the backup before you put it in the clockworkmod/backup folder, I'm not so sure but you should be able to rename it but from what I've read so far is the folder name can't have any spaces in it, so there it is, completely my fault for all the ruccus, damn!! I HATE when that happens... :p Anyway that should definately fix the md5 mismatch error. You were definately right Johnny and I can admit when I'm wrong, and I'm kicking myself in the ass for being such an ass to you bro, my deepest and sincere apologies man... :shakehands:

no sweat man..i have no hard feelings..i try my hardest to help anyone out that i come across whos having a problem in general..i deffinetly dont want any problems with anyone...just not me..dont like arguing over a phone with someone in a another part of the country lol..i am open to suggestions from anyone about anything..all i want is a stable cm9 for everyone to use..nothing els

@antbond

please try that to see if you have success

i know how i can fix any possible md5mismatch..but sense that was the second error i have a feeling when we fix that for you you will get the first error again...when i get home from work tonight ill restore cm9 boot up and then boot right back into recovery and it should create a new md5 file..maybe that will help with anyone getting a mismatch
