Droid 'pocket dialing' getting rather annoying

For some reason my droid likes to power on in my pocket (I think its the screen sliding open/closed causing this). As I use the unlock pattern, it seems the emergency dial function is too prominent on the screen and almost every time I'll hear my phone using the emergency dialer when the phone presses against my leg while walking.

Does anyone know if there's a planned fix or already released fix that can make the emergency dialer also a 'slide to activate' like answering a phone call or possibly reduce the emergency dial button in size considerably? As I've pretty much given up on Motorola providing much in the way of Droid updates at this point, esp since they appear to be ditching android slowly I'd be willing to root for this functionality.

I tried using a program that skips the unlock screen so I could just push the button and be at the home screen and had the same problem with pocket dialing. The screen only has to slide about 1/4 of an inch to turn on. If it would just stay off until it was fully open, there wouldn't be near as much of a problem with pocket dialing.

Motorola isn't ditching Android. They are just using Bing on the phones released in China because of Google's issues with China after being hacked and then threatening to stop censoring searches there.

i don't have this problem but. try this.
turn your screen on then while wearing jeans try to unlock the phone by swiping your screen across your knee. it works. :)

Yea I know it will still register touches through clothing, it happens to me when I am wiping down my screen. So it seems like there is a real simple fix, just make sure your screen is facing outwards, then it can't come in contact with any human touch unless your hugging someone I suppose.

Just cant bring myself to do that, the back of my droid has already taken much abuse from door frames, desks, stair rails, etc.

Let's try again. When my Droid is locked, screen on, I don't see anything resembling an emergency dialing function. What am I missing here?

The pattern lock option has an emergency dial (i.e. so that anyone who doesn't know your "password" can still use it to make an emergency call). If you don't have that option enabled, well then... I think you have your answer.

Just about - so if I have the default pattern still functioning (single right swipe), I do not have the emergency call option?

So you're not willing to admit there are indeed morons posting without actually reading past the first post? I could say much worse, but if the term morons upsets you please go ahead and delete my account and all posts now.

The word moron doesn't upset people, it's the fact that it was used in rude context because people aren't spending 10 minutes reading every post in a thread that you started.

Most people don't have the issue that you are having, maybe try different pants, turn the phone around, don't run into things, or buy a case for your phone.

Just because I think someone is a moron or whatever else doesn't mean I need to insult him/her with it on the forum for everyone to see. And no it doesn't upset me, what upsets me is you insulting someone for trying to help EVEN someone else already suggested the same thing in a earlier post.

And BTW, I didn't ban you.
